Earlier this week, Animal Crossing: New Horizons dropped a new update that included some beloved Animal Crossing characters. Although everyone got to know adorable Leif the gardener, the real highlight of the updated with Crazy Redd.

Crazy Redd is a fox that will visit a player's island and try to sell works of art. The thing is, Redd is a little bit on the sketchy side. This means that some of his paintings are real while others are fakes. Because of Redd's unsavory profession, he has to sneak onto a player's island rather than showing up happily in town square like all other visitors. This means that players will have to search their island for Redd's traveling, sketchy store.

Crazy Redd's Life in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing VERTICAL Jolly Redd

Unlike other temporary characters, Crazy Redd has his own designated spot on a player's island where his ship will appear. That means that players will be able to purchase a real work of art to donate to the museum when Redd visits the island. However, locating Crazy Redd's boat can prove to be a task. Believe it or not, every player's island came pre-equipped with a landing spot for Redd's shady practices.

Crazy Redd is an Animal Crossing staple. The sly character has been selling fake and real paintings to players since the dawn of the series. However, players need to be wary of Redd. Although he is more than happy to provide players with the "cousin's discount," not all of his paintings are what they appear. In order for players to avoid being scammed, players need to closely examine each painting and sculpture being sold. Out of the four art options Redd provides, there is only one real work of art. If players are looking to update and fill their museum, every piece of work needs to be looked at closely.

To find Crazy Redd's Treasure Trawler, players need to scan the northern edge of their island. It would be helpful to change the camera angle, this way players will get a better view of the northern coast. Along the north is a small beach that doesn't seem to fit anything. If players first scanned this edge of the island before the update, it would have seemed like an empty, inconspicuous beach that is just oddly placed. However, it turns out the creators of Animal Crossing had another idea planned. At this small, non-suspicious beach, Crazy Redd's Treasure Trawler is docked and ready for players to explore.

The first time players run into Redd, the Treasure Trawler will be locked up tight and inaccessible. However, after players purchase the first work of art, the Treasure Trawler will be open the next day with Redd saying he will visit the island again. Just talk to Crazy Redd in the town square, and the Trawler will be open for players to come purchase art and sometimes furniture. Just remember to never pay more than 5,000 bells for a work of art! Make sure to capitalize on that Cousin's Discount!
