Animal Crossing: New Horizons introduces a new crafting system to the franchise that gives players alternatives to purchasing furniture through the local shop known as the Nook's Cranny. In order for players to be able to craft the pieces of furniture they desire, they will need to collect the proper materials and must obtain the item's crafting recipe.

Once players make it past the early stages of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, they might feel that their current list of DIY recipes is quite limiting and the items in the Nook's Cranny aren't satisfying their tastes. This guide will teach players all of the different possible ways they can collect new DIY crafting recipes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Where To Find More DIY Recipes In Animal Crossing New Horizons

Animal Crossing New Horizons Crafting Guide
  • Nook's Cranny: Players can purchase DIY recipes books and recipes for tools from Timmy and Tommy at the Nook's Cranny. The recipe books are titled DIY for Beginners, Test Your DIY Skills, and Wildest Dreams DIY. Any tool recipes learned by the Island Representative will be purchasable by other player residents here.
  • Tom Nook: On top of the recipes given to players by Tom Nook when being taught how to craft and customize items, Tom Nook will task the player with crafting furniture for new residents and supply the player with recipes to do so.
  • NookStop: Players can purchase DIY recipes from the NookStop in the Resident Services Building/Tent using Nook Miles.
  • Collect Items: If players collect enough of certain items, they will learn recipes that involve using that item. A few examples would be collecting trash to unlock recipes like the Tire Toy and Manila Clams for Fish Bait!
  • Talk to Residents and Visitors: The other residents of the island also craft their own furniture from time to time. If the player finds a villager working at a Crafting Table in their home, they can talk to the villager to receive the DIY recipe they are working on. Island residents will also teach the player how to craft medicine so they don't always have to buy it. Visitors of the island may also have DIY recipes they can share with the player. Celeste will give the player recipes related to Star Fragments and campsite visitors will give players the recipe for any souvenir they ask for.
  • Message Bottles: Message Bottles will sometimes appear on player island beaches as well as on Mystery Island beaches. The bottle will contain a message from the villager that sent out the Message Bottle along with a DIY recipe. This means it is always good to check the beaches of every island players visit!
  • Balloon Presents: Players can find presents attached to balloons floating through their island throughout the day. Shooting down the present with the slingshot will allow the player to keep the present. These presents can contain Bells, crafting supplies, clothing, furniture, or even DIY recipes!
