Months after its release, fans continue to obsess over Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and celebrities are no exception. The COVID-19 pandemic has allowed plenty of time for those from all walks of life to check out the game, which in itself is a creative outlet for social distancing.

Enter screenwriter/video game journalist Gary Whitta, who hosts his talk show Animal Talking from the comfort of his virtual basement in his own Animal Crossing: New Horizons game on Twitch and YouTube. Animal Talking has live comedy, musical performances, and a variety of celebrities discussing numerous topics. Whitta has recruited a handful of his guests after seeing their interest in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. While many celebrity fans have made an appearance on Animal Talking, there are still many more who play that haven’t — at least not yet.

Elijah Wood made headlines in April 2020 when he visited a fan’s island who happened to have great turnip prices. The island host, known as Jessica on Twitter, was elated, posting photos of her surprise visitor. Wood proved to be a model guest by complimenting the host’s island and asking before picking any fruit. After catching Whitta’s attention, Wood later appeared on Animal Talking along with surprise guest, Jessica, his Turnip dealer.

Danny Trejo In Animal Crossing

Actor Danny Trejo got into Animal Crossing when his son first showed him the game. After offering up his dodo code on Twitter, Whitta told Trejo he needed to be a guest on Animal Talking — and Trejo agreed. Not only did he appear on the show, but he also gave a tour of his Animal Crossing island in a recurring segment on Animal Talking known as Danny’s Diary.

Brie Larson In Animal Crossing

The MCU's Captain Marvel, Brie Larson featured her Animal Crossing island on her YouTube channel where she talks about her 10-year obsession with the franchise and reveals her favorite Animal Crossing villager (the snooty hamster, Soleil). Larson was later invited as a guest on Animal Talking, sporting a comical “NO SEA BASS PLEASE” custom dress.

T-Pain In Animal Crossing

Rapper/singer T-Pain also started playing Animal Crossing to share his daughter’s interests. He enjoyed it so much he often posts screenshots on his Twitter page. He was also featured on Animal Talking, opening one episode with a live performance.

T-Pain is currently marketing a campaign for the toilet paper brand Cottonelle to give away TP coupons to Animal Crossing players who redecorate their island bathrooms with custom Cottonelle designs.

Mark Hoppus In Animal Crossing

While Animal Talking has spotlighted other celebrity fans of Animal Crossing such as voice actors from The Last of Us Part II, many other famous personalities that have yet to appear on Whitta’s talk show also enjoy the game. After being gifted a Switch by Nintendo, Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus recently shared his Dream Address (DA-6603-9928-6927) asking fans for suggestions for his island, Quarantine. He streams New Horizons and other games on his Twitch channel.

Chrissy Teigen In Animal Crossing

Model Chrissy Teigen has posted multiple tweets regarding her own Animal Crossing adventures, including her apparent disdain for the Animal Crossing: New Horizons NPC Zipper T. Bunny.

Guy Fieri In Animal Crossing

Restaurateur Guy Fieri posted a New Horizons version of himself with the caption, “I’m here on Flavortown Island checkin’ out a joint run by local legend, Tom Nook!” He also makes a jab at Nook's tendency to rip players off for upgrading their homes.

Celebrity twins Dylan and Cole Sprouse recently shared their Timmy and Tommy-inspired birthday cake. Cole has also asked Twitter follows for good turnip prices, and Animal Crossing fans were happy to help.

Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams has shared her New Horizons island and wardrobe. She even asked fans for help creating a Twitch stream though it appears she never got around to doing that.

Even politicians have enjoyed Animal Crossing. U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has visited some of her Twitter follower’s islands. She even made her own custom AOC shirt design. Naturally, fans were delighted with AOC's engagement.

Many other celebrities have also shared their interest in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It's a wonderful creative outlet for those who like to build and design, so it's fitting that so many actors, musicians, and other creators are so drawn to this Nintendo Switch game.
