Animal Crossing: New Horizons is all about crafting the player's perfect island experience. This guide will help players know what it takes to create the perfect kitchen. Animal Crossing: New Horizons allows players to customize almost every aspect of their island life. This is the most expressive entry in the Animal Crossing series to date, as players can put any item wherever they'd like on their island. If the player wants to mount a giant monster statue on the beach or place a giant robot deep within the forest of their island, they have the freedom to do so. Each of these items can be purchased by using Nook Miles inside the ATM of the Residents Hall. Isabelle, a reoccurring character in the Animal Crossing series which made her debut in Animal Crossing: New Leaf as the assistant to the mayor, returns in this game as the character who ranks the quality of the island. The player earns stars by adding trees, planting fruit, and decorating their islands with a wide variety of items. Although, Isabelle does not keep track of the player's home when calculating the quality of the island. There is an organization called the Happy Home Academy, an organization that rewards the player for the quality of their home. Following Feng Shui, an ideology that the spatial arrangement and orientation of items in a room relate to the type of luck one will receive, fully kicks off in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Feng Shui can affect luck with items or Bells and this guide will help players create the perfect kitchen to help with that.

While creating a kitchen is not required to getting a higher rank in the Happy Home Academy, it's just pleasant to have one around, especially for players who wish to create the perfect home based on real-world standards. Each home needs a bathroom, a bedroom, a living room, and a kitchen. It is recommended to aim for creating a kitchen after getting the second additional room in the game. Here's how to get the room and what comes along with it.

  • Right Room Upgrade: This home upgrade becomes available after paying off the 548,000 Bell loan for the Left Room upgrade. This adds an additional six-by-six room to the right side of the house and brings the total storage to 400 items. Also, players can now customize their front doors.
  • Second Floor Upgrade: This home upgrade becomes available after paying off the 758,000 Bell Loan for the Right Room upgrade. This adds a ten-by-ten second-floor room to customize. It also includes a storage upgrade, which brings the total to 800 items. Players can now also begin to customize the siding of their homes.

After the main room is created, the home will begin to expand on the top and the center. Here is what is needed to create the perfect kitchen in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Designing The Best Kitchen in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing Customize Furniture

Finding items for the kitchen can be done in a variety of ways. Here are the best ways to find kitchen items.

  • Shoot down balloons floating around the island for item drops.
  • Buy kitchen items from Nook's Cranny.
  • Find DIY Recipes on the beach inside of bottles.
  • Shake trees. The island provides two items a day by shaking trees.

Next up, make sure to select a proper color scheme before placing down any furniture. Selecting between two different colors is the most ideal. Also, check the customization options for specific furniture items, as not every item can have its color changed. Although, for it to be a kitchen, certain items are required. Here's what is needed.

  • Stove: The Brick Oven is an excellent selection for a stove. 8 Clay, 2 Iron Nuggets, 6 Wood.
  • Ironwood Table: 12 Wood, 6 Iron Nugget
  • Chairs: The Ironwood Chairs are the simplest to put together (3 Wood, 2 Iron Nuggets)
  • Ironwood Kitchenette: 4 Wood, 3 Iron Nugget, 1 Ironwood Dresser, 1 Cutting Board.
  • Ironwood Cupboard: 6 Iron Nuggets, 1 Ironwood Dresser, 7 Wood.

Once again, before laying down the furniture, it's important to establish the color scheme of the kitchen before laying down anything. Saharah will occasionally appear on the player's island. Here, players can purchase a wide variety of flooring, wallpaper, and rugs for their homes. Although, the player will not know what item they will get from the purchase until after the transaction is complete. Unfortunately, her appearance is completely random. Keep track of friend's islands and whenever Saharah appears there or turn the time forward in the Nintendo Switch settings until Saharah appears. If player's do not want to time-skip or wait around for Saharah, they can head into the custom patterns and create their own wallpapers that way. Although, this removes the windows from the room, making it a bit less ambient to the whole kitchen experience. Overall, it truly comes down to the preference of the player.

The kitchen is an important location in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but it is unfortunate the lack of food options available in the game. Players can create fridges and ovens or tables with plates and silverware but lack the option to interact with the food. It's interesting because the game has the option for the player to go poop after consuming fruit. The next logical leap for the Animal Crossing series would be the ability to cook dishes to share with friends, host events, and potentially give the player small stat boosts like faster digging or super strength like when eating fruit. Animal Crossing: New Horizons added crafting as items found around the island can be turned into furniture. This was a massive addition to the series, as normally items found in the wild would just be traded in for Bells to purchase better items. This addition makes it so these items contain more value and use outside of making a quick buck. The game also receives occasional free updates with seasonal events, bringing players back into the game every few weeks or so. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a game that is meant to be played for years to come.
