Animal Crossing: New Horizons has given players a ton of different furniture choices for their home and outdoor spaces. Despite what seems like an unlimited amount of creative possibilities, there are a few design options that New Horizons lacks, such as different bridge designs or even walls for a player’s home. When faced with these obstacles, a handful of players were able to find a creative solution to these problems by repurposing different kinds of furniture.

Unlike previous Animal Crossing entries, New Horizons offers players a variety of ways to design their spaces. Whether it’s through terraforming, adding paths, or building fences, this title gives players more creative freedom and options than ever before. However, players who want to build land bridges, or those who want more terraforming options, will find themselves disappointed.

Even with as much creativity as New Horizons offers, it does have its limits. However, this hasn’t stopped players from experimenting with various Animal Crossing furniture pieces in order to achieve what was initially thought to be the impossible. Here are a few ways that players have managed to take New Horizons to new heights by using different pieces of furniture in unique ways.

ACNH: Using Climbing Walls To Make Actual Walls

While a player’s home in New Horizons can be expanded to include several rooms and a basement, every room is essentially just one empty square. While players could theoretically dedicate an entire room to designing the perfect Animal Crossing kitchen, or have a separate room to serve as a living space, some players might want to combine the two spaces into one room. But in order to make it look less chaotic, players like Reddit user miss_acnh learned that climbing walls can be used as a clean way to divide up a room. This can easily be done by simply placing the climbing wall in the player’s home and turning it around so the wooden backside is facing outward. It's a simple tweak that makes all the difference for players looking to make their rooms feel more cozy.

ACNH: Using Jail Bars To Make Bridge Railings

While it’s unfortunate that bridges have their limits in New Horizons, players have found a way to get around the issue. Through a lot of terraforming and creating custom designs that look like wooden planks, players have made extensive land bridges. However, in order to complete the look, Reddit user rocketcatxx took jail bars and placed them along the edges of their land bridge to make it look like rails. Additionally, jail bars can also be customized into different colors, allowing for more different bridge and railing combinations.

ACNH: Using Dollhouses To Make Tiny Villages

The winter update for New Horizons introduced players to dollhouses. At first glance, it appears these tiny homes would look best indoors by a Christmas tree. However, creative players like Reddit user kmckelvs13 used these dollhouses to create a tiny outdoor winter village. Although the holidays may have passed, players can use this dollhouse trick to create tiny villages of their own, no matter the season.

These clever uses of different kinds of furniture in Animal Crossing: New Horizons show the depth of creativity that its player base has. As more furniture comes out with future Animal Crossing updates, perhaps players will continue to find more unique ways of repurposing them.
