An Animal Crossing: New Horizons version of The Beatles’ Abbey Road is so bad it’s good. Nintendo’s hit cartoon village simulator has given players license to be as creative as they deem fit, living out their mayoral and artistic fantasies. With fans having more time on their hands to explore Animal Crossing’s various features and interact with its lovable characters, other forms of creative hilarity have arisen, such as the game’s fan-made crossover with Hamilton.

Many companies, organizations, and individuals have also used Animal Crossing to reach out to their communities, such as the Tokyo Fire Department sharing safety tips through the game. The title’s users have become so involved with the world that communities and third-party websites have formed outside the game. Not everything in Animal Crossing is hunky-dory, however, as it also has a black market that allows gamers to sell and purchase villagers.

Continuing the trend of fan creations, visitorslipv2 took to Reddit to post their creation of an Animal Crossing version of The Beatles’ Abbey Road, which is so bad it’s good. The image shows a replica of the famous crosswalk, complete with literal beetles walking across the white-striped surface. That’s where the recreation ends, however, as the background looks nothing like the scene in the authentic Abbey Road, though, that doesn’t take away from this hilarious take on an undying classic.

Given Nintendo’s proclivity for more cartoonish content compared to its competitors (PlayStation and Xbox), it’s not surprising that its games warrant more creative endeavors from players. While Xbox has Minecraft, it doesn’t have the same adorable animal people to offer some emotional attachment to characters. The various recreational activities Animal Crossing presents encourage players to bring their artistic brains to the forefront of gameplay, bringing a levity and relaxation the world desperately needs.

So relieving are these passionate projects that they have brought people closer together and fostered good deeds. For proof of altruism’s continuing survival in times of strife, one need only look at the hotel staff who returned an Animal Crossing player’s Nintendo Switch to him after he left it at the hotel after returning home to Canada. Animal Crossing has become more than just another game, it has become an ambrosial outlet for imagination, ingenuity, and interpersonal relationships among the community, and has – likely unintentionally – become a conduit for magnanimity.
