The latest Animal Crossing installment has the popular Able Sisters tailor shop returning to the town. While you’ll need to unlock the location in New Horizons, the store continues to be the best place for players to get a wardrobe update. Additionally, while the Able Sisters features many returning functions, it also contains fresh features. We’re here to dive into all the details of the store now.

Whether you want to learn how to build the Able Sisters in your town or need help unlocking exclusive patterns, this one is for you. Here is everything to know about the Able Sisters.

You Must Meet Mabel Before She Sells On Your Island

While the Able Sisters has been accessible from day 1 in previous Animal Crossing games, New Horizons requires that players do a few tasks before the store opens its doors. The first thing a player must do? Meet Mabel, of course.

Mabel is one of the two hedgehogs that runs the Able Sisters. You can trigger her appearance after building Nook’s Cranny, which can be accomplished after turning your tent into a house. When you enter the Nookling’s store, you’ll see the hedgehog informing Timmy and Tommy that she plans to sell clothing on the island from time to time.

You Need To Purchase From The Plaza To Get The Shop

Mabel will eventually drop by your town again to sell clothing in the plaza. Though your options will be limited, you will still get a collection of tops, bottoms, dresses, hats, accessories, socks, and shoes to choose from.

If you spend at least 5,000 bells over two or more visits, Mabel will decide to set up a full-sized shop on your island. After you pick a spot, the Able Sisters store will be in business two days later.

There's A Rotating Clothing Selection On The Floor

When you walk into the new tailor shop, you’ll instantly notice a couple of mannequins on the left. These mannequins feature a combination of garments that change seasonally.

If you instead direct your attention to the middle of the store, you'll discover six clothing items that rotate daily. In order to purchase any of the items on the main floor, simply look closely at one, and Mabel will offer to sell it to you.

Able Sisters Features A New Dressing Room

New Horizons offers more clothing choices than ever before. There are over 1,200 unique styles of clothing, and when including color variations, there are over 4,600 different articles. To accommodate all the new stuff, Able Sisters now features a dressing room that lets players try on multiple items at the same time.

All the clothing items found on the floor can also be found in the dressing room. However, there’s an extended stock in the changing room that rotates day-to-date. You’ll get the additional style and color options, so be sure to check it out.

You Can Display Your Own Patterns

Animal Crossing New Horizons Customization Designs

If you have a knack for style, you’ll be glad to know you can display your own clothing creations at the Able Sisters.

You can create normal patterns and Pro Designs (after unlocking them with Nook Miles) on your phone. When you’re satisfied with your shirt, dress, or hat, you can display it on the back wall of the tailor shop. This adds character to your store and makes it easy for visitors to try on your fashion.

There’s A Custom Design Kiosk

If you want to see other players’ custom designs, you’ll be able to do so by vising the Custom Design Kiosk in the back corner of the Able Sisters. The kiosk allows players who have a Nintendo Switch Online membership to look for clothing designs online.

While you can explore the styles of specific creators, you can also search by Design IDs. You can even upload your own custom designs to the internet.

You Can Get Special Patterns From Sable

As soon as the Able Sisters opens, you’re going to want to start talking to Sable every day. She’s the hedgehog that is always busy sewing in the back.

Though Sable will seem quiet and preoccupied at first, she’ll eventually befriend players that continually chat with her. While this will trigger dialogue related to the sisters’ past, it will also encourage Sable to give you special prints that can be used to customize furniture. Of course, you’ll need to have gone through the DIY Customization Workshop with Tom Nook to start using them.

Opening The Shop Will Trigger Kicks And Label

After you open up the Able Sisters, you’ll start to get new visitors to the Plaza. The first of these is Kicks, a skunk known for selling shoes, socks, and bags. The second of these is the trendy third Able sister, Label.

Label will challenge players to dress in a certain style. She’ll give players an item to start with and ask them to return when they’re ready to be judged. If you successfully complete the challenge, she’ll give you a Tailor Ticket, which can be exchanged for a single clothing item at the Able Sisters valued at up to 3,000 bells. If you do really well, she might even give you an exclusive Label-branded item.
