An Animal Crossing: New Horizons player has recreated the Animal Crossing track from Mario Kart 8 for their island in stunning detail. Since both the Animal Crossing video game series and the Mario franchise are owned by Nintendo, it doesn't come as a surprise that there would be some sort of crossover. 2018's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate introducing Animal Crossing's Isabelle as a playable character is just one example of this. A more direct example is when Nintendo celebrated the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. by making a Super Mario crossover update for Animal Crossing, which introduced Mushroom Kingdom-themed items. Though these examples are official crossovers, fans of both franchises often work to design their favorite games within ACNH.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons lets players customize not only their house, but a whole island of their own. The possibilities are near-endless, and ACNH players don't disappoint when it comes to creativity. Thanks to the Dream Suite feature of Animal Crossing, players can easily visit a dream version of other players' islands without worrying that a guest would change anything on the creator's island. To access a specific island, one simply needs to enter a unique Dream Address as their character sleeps. The player can then spend as long as they want exploring another player's island. Sometimes other people's islands may be crossovers of other franchises, like this faithful recreation of BOTW's Lurelin Village in ACNH.

An Animal Crossing fan that goes by the username PishPawshART on Twitter posted a video of their character visiting a dream island modeled after the winter Animal Crossing course in Mario Kart 8. The video shows their character running through a mini-course that has collectible coins along the way. Also on the track are Koopa shells and several parked cars, giving the feeling that the character is running on the course as time has stopped. To top it all off, there's a miniature figurine of Mr. Resetti at the start of the race, checkered flags, and even cameras to capture the race. The name of this dream island is Lamasery, and its Dream Address DA-8468-5893-3290.

Despite being one of the biggest of Nintendo's franchise, there are many who only got their first taste of Animal Crossing within Mario Kart 8. Mario Kart 8 is the best-selling game in US history, and its Animal Crossing track has been experienced by many racing fans who might not have otherwise known or played the life simulation series. The popular track is modeled after New Leaf, and includes changing seasons which can alter the track, as well as AC characters including Mr. Resetti, and even buildings such as Nook's Cranny.

With the popularity of both Mario Kart 8 and Animal Crossing, it's little wonder that a fan would decide to recreate one of the games within the other. PishPawshART's find makes one ponder how an Animal Crossing-themed Mario Kart-style video game could work. Animal Crossing certainly has enough villagers to choose from, and it would be interesting to see a character like Raymond in a race. Either way, the fact that there is an Animal Crossing course in Mario Kart 8 seems to confirm that Nintendo understands the love fans have for the social simulation game. Though an Animal Crossing kart racing game has yet to come out, at least Lamasery Island gives fans some idea of what it could look like. If anything, dream islands like this one show just how creative Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can be.
