Nintendo should have made an Animal Crossing kart-racing game instead of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC. While the latter is still incredibly popular, the game is a remake of the Wii U version. In addition, the 48 DLC tracks, releasing throughout 2022, are all taken from previous entries in the series. New Horizons was a massive success and created new fans all over the world. Nintendo could capitalize on the desire for more Animal Crossing content by creating a fun and exciting new kart-racing game.

Plenty of companies have tried to capture the hearts of fans, with titles similar to Mario Kart. Part of the reason for the success of Nintendo's powerhouse series is the colorful cast of characters. Players have grown up with the Mario crew for decades, and they are still beloved by fans today. Similarly, the company included some of the best villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Players spend hours talking to and growing attached to the residents on their island. Isabelle has already been featured in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but even more fan-favorite characters could appear in an Animal Crossing kart-racer, which sounds better than more Mario Kart 8 DLC.

New Horizons alone has 397 different villagers, giving Nintendo a lot of choice for Animal Crossing villagers. There are, however, a handful of characters that have resonated with many players. Fans can spend hours, or even days, trying to invite the colorful teddy-bear Stitches, the Egyptian cat Ankha, or the smug cat Raymond to their island. With so many different personalities and designs, there is a character for everyone. A great way to separate an Animal Crossing kart-racing game from Mario Kart 8 DLC would be to add unique mechanics.

Game Mode Ideas For An Animal Crossing Kart

Animal Crossing Angry Tom Nook

Nintendo could include one of the best parts of Animal Crossing, villager interactions. After winning a set number of races or earning enough trophies, players could have conversations with the respected character. By making the game more personalized, fans can get more attached to their favorite villagers. There could also be something similar to Mario Kart's battle mode. To make it more unique, participants could race to see who could pop Tom Nook's balloons the fastest. This would finally give fans revenge for the mountain of debt he thrusts upon players.

An Animal Crossing kart-racer would not be complete without fun tracks. Since its launch, there have been five games in the mainline series. Players could drive through memorable locations, such as The City in Animal Crossing City Folk. The 48 new stages in Mario Kart 8's DLC are basically MK9, meaning the likelihood of a new racing game is slim. The current Animal Crossing track is one of the best Nintendo has made, and a full kart racer based on the games would be immensely fun.
