An Animal Crossing: New Horizons player has brought the Moon to their island by creating their own lunar rock garden. Fans of the 2020 Nintendo Switch title are no strangers to innovative and exciting design choices, with gamers creating everything from schools to seafood restaurants within Animal Crossing. The title offers different ways for creative players to design and polish their islands to perfection, with some builds truly being out of this world.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been a staple for Switch gamers since its release. The game provides a chance to escape to a deserted island, where players must build up a small town of animal friends. End-game content allows users to add cliffs, create rivers, and carve out their island to whatever their heart desires. Customization goes even deeper with the ability for players to make their own pixel designs in-game, using them for clothing, decoration and even pathways. Gamers have used the available tools to create highly impressive islands, with one player even recreating The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time's Hyrule map using Animal Crossing.

The game includes many items to collect and catalog, with a series of space-focused items available as DIY Recipes from the aptly-named owl, Celeste. While these are staple decorations for many islands, one AC gamer and Redditor took the lunar theme one step further, sharing a look at a lunar rock garden they'd created with the game. Made by Reddit user DerWasserspeier and shared via Imgur, it features custom pathways made to resemble the surface of the Moon, as well as strategically-placed stones in place of Moon rocks. Other features include the Rocket, the Satellite, and the Lunar Rover items, which are all created using Star Fragments.

Animal Crossing's Star Fragments are an ingredient used in a number of recipes given by Celeste. Star Fragments are obtained when players wish upon a shooting star. After doing this, gamers can find various types of Fragments on their beaches, including Large Star Fragments and ones based on the different star signs. Gathering Star Fragments can be tricky, as shooting stars don't happen every night. Meteor Showers, which are announced by Isabelle when logging into the game, will increase the spawn rates of shooting stars, but Meteor Showers are fairly rare.

Along with the various items and recipes that players can access in the main game, additional content can be unlocked with amiibo cards. Earlier this year Nintendo released Animal Crossing and Hello Kitty amiibo cards, which can be purchased in order to access a range of Sanrio-inspired AC goodies. The $6 cards unlock items including furniture, outfits, and decorations, while also inviting special edition villagers to join the island. It's not clear whether Nintendo will collaborate with other franchises for future amiibo cards.
