An Animal Crossing fan has recreated the opening shot from Kirby and the Forgotten Land. The first 3D Kirby game breaks boundaries for the series in its transition from 2D to 3D, and has several new features that take advantage of this new gameplay format. While Kirby has gone 3D in small minigames when the franchise was on the 3DS, this is the first full mainline 3D Kirby adventure.

A surprise free demo was recently released for Kirby and the Forgotten Land, which gives players a firsthand glimpse at how Kirby plays in 3D. The demo is fairly short, having three levels and a boss battle with the titanic Gorimondo, but it features Kirby's new mouthful mode in use on objects such as cars, vending machines, and cones. Being able to play Kirby in 3D for the first time prior to the full game’s release will likely drum up even more sales for the highly anticipated Kirby game.

Reddit user Thatdisneyguylol has recreated the beach at which Kirby awakens at the start of Kirby and the Forgotten Land. The recreation mostly consists of palm trees, sea shells, and other aspects of greenery such as weeds and shrubs. The grand scale of this beach in Kirby and the Forgotten Land makes it very difficult to translate to a game like Animal Crossing, and yet, the recreation still manages to carry that same iconic shot of Kirby waddling into a brand-new adventure.

The setting of Kirby and the Forgotten Land has brought up comparisons to games like Sonic Frontiers and NieR: Automata. The post-apocalyptic environment is one that many games have tackled before, and games like NieR: Automata are often revered as cult classics for the gripping story they tell of the setting and characters in them. The exact details of this environment still aren’t known, but the full release will likely have some lore as to why this new world bears a striking resemblance to a destroyed modern Earth.

Though in spite of the city ruins, Kirby and the Forgotten Land’s setting remains jolly and magical, as is Kirby tradition. The music and overall tone are a contrast to the curious city ruins, and the beach where Kirby wakes up also has a calming tranquility to it, which this Animal Crossing recreation also features. Another aspect to the mysteries of Kirby and the Forgotten Land is it being the first game in the Kirby series to have a fear warning. What this means remains to be seen, but Kirby is known for having unsettling enemies such as the infamous Marx Soul, and the cause of this rating could potentially contrast with the jolly nature of Animal Crossing and the start of Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
