One Reddit user has turned their Animal Crossing: New Horizons island into a mysterious jungle with the help of a little fog. Since the game's launch last March, players have been using their time in pandemic-induced quarantine to customize their islands to their liking. Free content like last month's one-year anniversary update has given players even more ways to decorate their character, their villagers, and their entire island. Prom-themed items were a highlight of the update, particularly for high school students who wouldn't be able to experience their real-life prom due to COVID-19.

As time has passed since launch, players' islands and builds have become more elaborate than ever. Players have used warp pipes from the game's Mario-themed update, which occurred earlier this year at the beginning of March, to send players to different points on their island. One player modeled different parts of their island after heaven and hell and used the pipes to randomly transport visitors to one or the other. Other players have made islands based on The Lord of the RingsKakariko Village from The Legend of Zeldaand even an IKEA store.

Some builds focus on the game's plants and greenery in a unique way. Reddit user thirtytwoounces decorated the entrance of their island in bamboo, bushes, palm trees, and carefully placed weeds, creating a jungle-like environment. The entrance also includes potted plants, a statue, and green mum flowers, resulting in a very color-coordinated setup. A single path leads further into the island, presumably to the tall hills and cliffs that can be seen in the background. While this environment would be beautiful on a clear sunny day, thirtytwoounces managed to take a screenshot of the scene while it was covered in the early-morning fog of fall. The green-tinged low clouds give off an eerie vibe, completing the package and making the jungle feel much more mysterious.

While many players have lauded the advancements that Animal Crossing: New Horizons has made with patterns and player-designed decorations, island creations that use only the game's standard plants and items are equally impressive. It takes a lot of creativity - and just a touch of luck - to make something beautiful out of only the standard plants and trees.

Friends and other players who visit thirtytwoounces' island are sure to want to explore more. Their island promises mystery, adventure, and something interesting behind every corner. Other fans will likely use this setup as inspiration for their own islands, just as other players have done with equally impressive builds of all varieties. It's wonderfully apparent that the creativity of Animal Crossing: New Horizons players knows no bounds.
