An Animal Crossing: New Horizons player shared their tribute to The Office this week: a recreation of the show's iconic main set they designed using the new DLC Happy Home Paradise. This is one of the latest entries in a wide breadth of creations by the Animal Crossing community - since the game's release in 2020, players have been finding innovative and unique ways to decorate their islands, with many sharing recreations of famous pop culture locales online. With the release of the new design-centric DLC, players have been given even more ways to get creative.

Animal Crossing received a large amount of new content in November, with both the release of the game's 2.0 update and the paid Happy Home Paradise DLC. Both introduced a slew of new items and game mechanics, allowing for a lot of new options when it comes to players decorating their islands. The new DLC is all about design. The player can now take a job as an interior decorator, building vacation homes for villagers on a new island locale. Happy Home Paradise introduced many new design elements, including pillars, partition walls, and lighting adjustments. All of these new additions to gameplay have allowed for even more detail when it comes to in-game design, which has inspired many new creations from players.

Reddit user atlanta_clause shared their own unique design this week of a detailed recreation of The Office set. The user is clearly a big fan of the show - their design is accurate to the set's layout and includes lots of Easter eggs that call back to classic moments in the series. Dwight's desk features a plate of green gelatin, a reference to when Jim encased Dwight's stapler in Jello in the show's pilot. A family photo sitting on Jim's desk references a classic cold open from Season 9 - Jim plays an elaborate prank on Dwight by hiring his friend to impersonate him, going so far as to have a family photo featuring the fake Jim on his desk. In the back of the room where the accountants sit, a cat photo aptly sits atop cat-lover Angela's desk. To round off this Office tribute, atlanta_clause dressed villager Sydney - the vacation home client - in an outfit reminiscent of what Pam wore in the series and sat her behind the receptionist's desk.

The accuracy of this design was made possible with the new elements added by the Happy Home Paradise DLC - pillars, new office-related objects, and food items helped atlanta_clause make their design as close to The Office set as possible. Previously in Animal Crossing, this set recreation would have been both less detailed and impossible to navigate - a key part of the game's 2.0 update was allowing players to turn sideways to walk through smaller places, allowing for more realistic placement of furniture. With all of these clever details included by the user, it's easy to imagine Sydney as the latest employee of Dunder Mifflin.

This excellently detailed Office tribute is a shining example of the creativity within the Animal Crossing community. The release of Happy Home Paradise paired with the 2.0 update has opened the door to a myriad of new design opportunities for fans of the game. It's inspired so many unique new designs from Animal Crossing players, and the whole new town included with Happy Home Paradise has given ample space to fill with their creative visions.
