Fans of both extreme comfort and Nintendo’s adorable Animal Crossing franchise can rejoice, as a new AC-themed gaming chair is now available. Nintendo’s life simulation game series has had a huge surge in popularity over the last 12 months. The release of New Horizons last March happened to coincide with the start of some of the harshest lockdown measures being put in place to help stop the spread of COVID-19. As such, the population sought out a source of comfort and wholesomeness to juxtapose against the torrent of real-world news; something that the tranquil island life within Animal Crossing: New Horizons delivered.
A large part of the game’s appeal lies in the beautiful creations and dedications that fans can produce on their Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ islands. From landscapes inspired by other Nintendo franchises such as The Legend of Zelda to Chandler and Joey’s apartment from Friends, the customization options are endless.
And now, while fans are letting their inner designers run wild with the many items, tools, and landscaping options available to them in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, they can be in form-fitting and ergonomic comfort. UK retailer Argos (via Nintendo Life), now stock the most adorable gaming chair by X Rocker, inspired by Animal Crossing island life. The chair, known as the Animal Crossing – Village Edition, comes in a beautiful bright blue, with a friendly scene showing everyone’s favorite island residents. Tom Nook is there too. Argos details the Animal Crossing rocker as a “soft comfortable seat” with an “easy to maintain wipe clean surface over a foldable body,” ideal for gaming in smaller spaces such as bedrooms or flats. Unfortunately, the website then goes on to mention that this covetable chair is, in fact, for junior gamers. Humph.
The arrival of an Animal Crossing gaming chair is not the only bit of merch to come from the wholesome franchise. Fans can also now clothe themselves in the snuggly Animal Crossing Dodo Pilot Jacket, ideal for when the weather takes an icy turn, as well as order figurines of island residents to decorate their real-life homes.
While the everyday world is still in a state of general disorder, Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to supply the well-rounded comfort that many today crave. Hopefully, over the coming months, things will start to settle back into something that resembles normality a bit closer, but until that time, at least gamers can wait it out in comfort and style.
