Quick Links
With February just around the corner, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players will find that there’s lots to do and new critters to catch. Players on islands in the Northern Hemisphere still have a few more weeks of winter to endure before spring arrives, while Southern Hemisphere island dwellers might find a chill in the breeze as summer gives way to fall. Each month in Animal Crossing: New Horizons brings new bugs, fish and deep-sea creatures for players to catch and add to their museum collections. Players will also be able to enjoy February’s Festivale event and even get chocolates and flowers on Valentine's Day.
Despite the end of official updates, players continue to be drawn in by Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ relaxing life-sim experience. Aside from searching high and low for critters to put on display in their island museums, players can also partake in lots of other activities, whether it’s reshaping their islands and redecorating their villages or making friends. Even in 2023, the soothing experience that many players sought out in 2020 is still accessible to anyone looking for a break, and as the calendar flips over from January to February, players have more to enjoy.

February Events And Seasonal Items
Sadly, avid critter collectors in the Northern Hemisphere might find their Animal Crossing: New Horizons experience a bit lacking in February once they’ve caught the tiger beetle. Players in the Southern Hemisphere will fare a little better since there’s more to catch. However, February’s biggest draw is its events. Southern Hemisphere players can participate in Flick’s famous Bug Off event on February 18th. This event features a bug catching competition, challenging players to catch as many bugs as they can in three minutes. Players can earn points that can be exchanged with Flick for a set of neat bug-themed items.
Northern Hemisphere players will have to wait for warmer weather before Flick decides to set up shop. However, players in both hemispheres will be able to celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14th. Isabelle and a random villager will send players nice letters with gifts attached, while the Heart-shaped Bouquet and Chocolate Heart items will be available to buy at Nook Shopping. Players can also visit Brewster’s Roost café for something special that’s not their usual cup of coffee.
Finally, the Carnival-themed Festivale event makes its return. Festivale always takes place two days before Ash Wednesday, so players can expect it to occur on February 20th, 2023. Festivale is hosted by Pavé, who will ask players to collect red, green, blue and purple feathers for him. By collecting feathers, players can get a DIY recipe for the rainbow feathers item. Pavé will also give players Festivale-themed furniture items when given feathers. Eventually, when given enough feathers, Pavé will ask players to bring him three rainbow feather items, which players can give him to get the Festivale Float furniture item.
Players might like to prep for Festivale ahead of time. February isn’t necessarily the busiest month in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but this gives players the opportunity to enjoy some peace and quiet with their villager friends before the busier spring and fall months roll around.
