In honor of LGBTQ+ Pride Month, one fan has taken the initiative and designed rainbow tools for use in Animal Crossing: New Horizons for use. While it’s clear that these should already exist in the game, players are now able to see just how a rainbow edition of all the available tools in the island simulator would look and feel aesthetically.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a real-time simulation game taking place on a deserted island. Players are given tools to help them form this island into the perfect paradise they prefer, altering the terrain of the island and dressing it up in furniture and set pieces as they wish, The tools play a big part in how players can alter the world around them, with some tools only becoming available after progressing further through the plot and hitting certain milestones. Many of the tools in Animal Crossing have alternative looks that differ from the basic wooden version, including golden tools that can be crafted from golden nuggets found in the game. Fans have been wondering for some time now if more customized versions of tools will be added based on themes or events.

One talented fan has taken the job on themselves to put together a rainbow-themed set of tools, in celebration of LGBTQ+ Pride Month this June. Reddit user StrawberryInu has creatively designed each of the main tools in the game to match a rainbow color scheme, with clouds and stars to match the theme, and posted the designs onto the Animal Crossing subreddit. In one of the comments on the post, StrawberryInu jokes that when the net is swung, it would shoot rainbows as well.

Having rainbow-themed tools would be perfect for some player’s island aesthetic, while others may just prefer the look. A major part of Animal Crossing is the ability to customize the player's character and the world around them as the player wishes, from hairstyle, skin color, clothing, home decorations, and even the music on the island. The issue most players have been finding is the limitation of these options, with the base game on launch having a shallower pool of items to choose from than players would like.

More events in Animal Crossing are needed in the game’s second year. There hasn’t been a new major update since summer 2020 when swimming and diving were added to the game. While events were added during the first year of release, no new events or changes to these events have occurred. An Animal Crossing LGBTQ+ Pride event would be amazing for the series.
