At its core, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a game about routines and daily life, allowing players to immerse themselves in island living by logging in each day as the game passes in real time. With the amount of freedom Animal Crossing gives players to live their island life however they want, it can be difficult to keep track of everything that can be done for island upkeep. As of the 2.0 update in November of 2021, which introduced a ton of new content to the game, there’s even more that players can incorporate into their daily routines.

As the days go by, the island will change depending on how much players interact with it, and these changes can affect the island’s rating. Weeds will grow, tree branches will fall, and fossils will appear, and without daily upkeep, the island’s rating will drop. In addition, if players neglect their Animal Crossing villagers and don’t speak with them for several days, there’s a chance they may want to pack up and leave the island.

After the 2.0 update, there’s a lot more content to enjoy every day, like farming, visiting the Roost, and collecting Gyroids. The update incorporated a lot of fun new features and mechanics into Animal Crossing that shook up a lot of players’ routines, giving players more freedom and variety when it comes to daily tasks. These are all the daily tasks players can complete in Animal Crossing in 2022.

Check The Mailbox At The Start Of Each Day In Animal Crossing

Animal Crossing Mailbox

Players will start each day at their house when they log into Animal Crossing, and the first thing they’ll notice is whether or not there’s mail in the mailbox. If any unopened letters or packages are inside, the mailbox flag will raise and flash, and a chime will play to let players know that they should check the mail. Not only will players find any Nook Shopping or Redd’s Treasure Trawler deliveries inside, but villagers and friends can send letters or gifts as well. The mailbox holds up to 300 letters, but it’s a good idea to check it each day to claim any items inside.

Talk To Neighbors In Animal Crossing

Limberg Bragging in Animal Crossing

As a social simulation game, Animal Crossing focuses a lot on interactions with the game’s many villagers, and players should be sure to talk to all of their neighbors every day. Players can build friendships with their neighbors by chatting with them and giving them gifts, but neglected villagers are at risk of moving away from the island. As of the Animal Crossing 2.0 update, villagers can also visit players’ homes by showing up at random or asking to be invited over, giving players even more opportunities to interact with their favorite neighbors.

Find Animal Crossing's Visiting Vendors And Special NPCs

In addition to villagers, Animal Crossing players will also meet several special characters on their island, including vendors as well as NPCs who will reward players for completing various tasks. Special characters like Flick, CJ, Wisp, Gulliver, and more will appear on the island at random, giving players an opportunity to get unique items when they come around.

While many of the game’s vendors, like Redd and Leif, can now be found on Harv’s Island as of the 2.0 update, others can only be found when they visit players’ islands, so players should be sure to track them down when they come to town. Fortunately, Isabelle’s daily announcements were also updated in 2.0 to notify players when these special characters are visiting.

Check The Nook Stop Terminal Every Day In Animal Crossing

Players can earn up to 300 bonus Nook Miles per day by visiting the Nook Stop terminal in Animal Crossing’s Resident Services building. The amount of Nook Miles they’ll receive increases for each consecutive day that they stop at the terminal, ranging from 50 on the first day to 300 by the seventh. Additionally, there are new items available in the Nook Shopping and Nook Miles catalogs every day, including new DIY recipes and K.K. Slider songs for players to collect.

Get Bells From Animal Crossing's Money Tree And Money Rock

Animal-Crossing-Money-Trees

Earning Bells is one of the more important tasks in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and players can easily get around 40,000 Bells per day by doing two simple daily tasks on the island. Every day, players can dig up a bag of 1,000 Bells, which is indicated by a golden light shining up out of the ground. By planting 1,000 or 10,000 Bells in the glowing hole left behind, players can grow a Money Tree that will triple the amount of Bells planted when it fully matures. Additionally, one of the 6 rocks on the island will be a Money Rock each day, allowing players to earn up to 16,000 Bells by hitting it 8 times in a row. However, players must be quick in order to get all of the Bells out of it.

Gather Resources In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

In order to complete DIY projects and make new items to decorate their islands, Animal Crossing players will have to gather resources from the island’s rocks, trees, and beaches. By hitting the island’s 6 rocks, players can gather stones, clay, and iron, and chopping trees will grant them wood, hardwood, and softwood.

There are also shells to collect on the beach, weeds to pull from the grass, and fruits and flowers can both be harvested for DIY projects as well. There are a limited amount of resources available each day, however, and while it’s unlikely that players will exhaust each rock and tree every day, it’s a good idea to gather at least a few of each type of resource daily to replenish their supply and save time when crafting.

Dig For Fossils Every Day In Animal Crossing

Players can find four fossils every day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Each day, four new fossils will spawn on players’ islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. These ancient relics can be dug up from star-shaped holes that appear on the ground, and while they can be used for various DIY projects, players can also take them to the Museum to be evaluated by Blathers. Donating assessed fossils to the Museum will allow players to work towards completing this wing, but fossils can also be sold to Timmy and Tommy at Nook’s Cranny. Fossils sell for 1,000 to 6,000 Bells, and while the amount players can earn per day by selling them varies, it’s worth finding all of them to make money and keep the island looking tidy.

Water Flowers And Crops Daily In Animal Crossing

Players with a green thumb can grow beautiful gardens full of flowers in Animal Crossing, and, as of the 2.0 update, they can also plant impressive farms with the new crops available in the game. Flowers are one of the more complex aspects of Animal Crossing and can be bred to create new hybrids with new colors, but players will have to water their flowers in order to get these new flowers to bloom. Watering flowers will also get them to grow faster, though they don’t necessarily need to be watered every day to survive.

Crops, on the other hand, don’t have any hybrid forms, but watering them every day will increase their yield, granting players up to 3 crops from each plant. Players who cook frequently after the cooking mechanic was added in 2.0 should be sure to tend to their farms each day in order to get more resources. Like flowers, however, players won’t have to worry about watering their crops on days that it rains or snows.

Check Animal Crossing's Shops For New Items

There are new items available in each of the shops in Animal Crossing every day, so players should be sure to stop in and see what’s available as part of their daily routine. Nook’s Cranny and the Able Sisters tailor shop rotate their stock frequently, and as of the 2.0 update, players can also visit special vendors such as Redd, Leif, and Saharah on Harv’s Island to find unique items each week.

In addition, players who buy Turnips from Daisy Mae on Sundays should be sure to check the turnip prices at Nook’s Cranny during their daily visits to earn as many Bells as possible. The prices will change every day, but players will only have a week to sell them before they rot and become worthless.

Get DIY And Cooking Recipes In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing New Horizons Deirdre Cooking

Every day, players will be able to find two DIY or cooking recipes on their Animal Crossing island to expand their crafting capabilities and unlock even more decorating options. One villager will be either cooking or crafting a DIY project in their house each day, and players can talk to them to learn the recipe themselves. There will also be one message bottle washed up on the island’s beach each day that contains either a DIY or cooking recipe, so players should incorporate a walk along the coast into their daily routine.

Visit The Roost Every Day In Animal Crossing To Unlock Rewards

Brewster was added to Animal Crossing: New Horizons in the 2.0 update, and players can enjoy a hot cup of coffee in his café every day to earn a variety of rewards. There’s no limit to the amount of coffee players can drink in one day, but every day that they drink at least one cup of coffee will not only count towards these rewards, but will also increase their friendship with Brewster. To show his appreciation, Brewster will give players various coffee-themed items, like coffee beans and a DIY cooking recipe for a café pastry, and players can even earn a unique Gyroid that looks just like Brewster himself.

Collect Gyroids In Animal Crossing 2.0

Animal Crossing Squeezoid Gyroid

Gyroids were another exciting and long-awaited addition to Animal Crossing: New Horizons that appeared in the 2.0 update, and players can bury Gyroid fragments in order to start a Gyroid collection of their own. Gyroid fragments can be dug up on Kapp’n’s Mystery Island Tours, and players will also be able to find them washed up on their island’s beach.

After burying and watering them, players will be able to dig up a fully-grown Gyroid the next day, and players looking to expand their collection should be sure to bury at least one fragment per day. Fully-grown Gyroids will also spawn on the island after it rains, making these days ideal for Gyroid collecting.

Get A Fortune Or Friendship Evaluation From Katrina Each Day In Animal Crossing

After donating 100,000 Bells to open her shop on Harv’s Island, Animal Crossing players will be able to get a Fortune and a Friendship Reading from Katrina once per day. By asking for a Fortune, players will receive either good luck or bad luck for the day regarding money, health, and friendship. These Fortunes have a myriad of effects and can increase the amount of Bells players find in rocks, decrease the cost of items in the shops, make tools unbreakable, and more, but bad luck can be purified for 10,000 Bells to avoid any adverse effects.

In addition, Katrina can evaluate the friendship level of one villager per day with a Friendship Reading, letting players know if they’re acquaintances, friends, or even best friends. If players haven’t maxed out their friendship with the villager in question, she’ll offer a blessing for 10,000 Bells that will make it easier to build a friendship with them for the rest of the day.

Participate In Animal Crossing 2.0's Group Stretching

Animal Crossing New Horizons Group Stretching

Another exciting addition to Animal Crossing that was introduced in the 2.0 update is Group Stretching, which players can participate in by using the tape deck in the plaza. Group Stretching not only offers a fun break in the day that gathers the island’s villagers and NPCs together for some communal exercise, but it also comes with a variety of rewards. Like Brewster’s coffee, there’s no limit to how many times players can start a Group Stretching session per day, but each day that they participate will allow players to earn special items such as a Nook Inc. yoga mat, as well as 7 unique reactions. These reactions will let players stretch, jump, and get their blood pumping from anywhere on the island.

Earn Nook Miles By Doing Nook Miles+ Tasks Daily In Animal Crossing

Animal Crossing New Horizons Nook Miles

In addition to earning Nook Miles for reaching certain milestones in Animal Crossing’s pseudo-achievement system, players can also earn Nook Miles by completing the Nook Miles+ tasks on their Nook Phone every day. These tasks tend to be simple things that players may already incorporate into their daily routine, such as talking to their neighbors, hitting rocks, and getting fossils evaluated at the Museum. Completing these easy tasks allows players to earn at least 1,000 Nook Miles every day with some tasks being worth up to 500 Nook Miles on their own, making this one of the fastest ways to earn Nook Miles in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
