As with so many of the game’s features, furniture customization has been expanded in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 update. Alongside the Pro Decorating License and new customizable fencing, most ready-made furniture is now able to be customized as well in Animal Crossing. One of the larger developments to Harv's Island market includes a new group of NPCs offering their services and selling new items. Among these vendors are Reese and Cyrus, who can customize almost anything brought to them.

Customization has been a popular part of New Horizons, allowing players to fine-tune their décor. Though many DIY items can be customized at a workbench, this is not the case for all ready-made furniture. Only certain purchased items can be customized at a DIY Workbench. To see which bought items can receive customization, players should approach a workbench with the desired item. If that particular item is unable to be changed, it will appear grayed out in inventory.

Anything that can't be customized at a DIY Workbench in Animal Crossing: New Horizons can usually be tackled by Reese and Cyrus, who players may recognize from Wedding Season. In the 2.0 update, they can be found on Harv's Island with the other vendors. However, upon first revisiting Harv's Island after the game has updated, none of the vendors will be available yet. Speak to each of the Gyroids in the area to see which one is accepting donations for Reese and Cyrus' shop. Once the player has donated enough Bells, the couple will be available to update furniture.

How to Customize Ready-Made Furniture in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Items Able to be Customized by Reese and Cyrus in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Since some purchased furniture in Animal Crossing: New Horizons can be customized at a DIY Workbench, players may want to start there. With the desired furniture and Customization Kits in inventory, they can approach any DIY Workbench to set the custom design. In addition to the predetermined color schemes, some items might have the option to use patterns, which players can unlock by talking to Sable at the Able Sisters. Other furniture may also include the option to select from the player's Custom Designs.

If an item can't be customized this way, players can take it to Reese and Cyrus for refurbishing. Players will pay in Bells as opposed to using Customization Kits, so they may need to stop by their Automatic Bell Dispenser ATM to withdraw some money. Reese boasts that Cyrus can customize nearly anything, and Cyrus notes that there are certain items only he is able to alter. When selecting an item to give them, a small pink and blue alpaca icon will appear next to items Reese and Cyrus can customize. Players can select the item and choose its new color, and Cyrus will deliver it immediately.
