The villagers of Animal Crossing aren't the only ones with distinctive personalities, as the NPCs that players encounter in their day-to-day activities are unique as well, from the infamous Tom Nook to the musical K.K. Slider.
A good way to further understand these characters is by looking at them through the lens of the Zodiac, aligning each animal with the astrological sign that best suits them in order to highlight the most prominent parts of their identity, and perhaps bring other aspects into sharper focus as well.
Aries - Mr. Resetti
Associated with the element of fire, the Aries sign is said to be passionate, bold, and full of energy. Though their assertions can sometimes be taken as rudeness, Aries values honesty above all else.
The character of Mr. Resetti perfectly captures the Aries spirit. In many entries in the Animal Crossing series, the mole was tasked with berating players who forgot to save or continuously reset their game, and though he's remembered by fans merely as being angry, he ultimately just took his job very seriously and appeared far calmer if encountered in Brewster's coffee shop.
Taurus - Flick

In true Taurus fashion, Flick has dedicated his life to doing this, combining his greatest love with his career as a bug specialist who also builds models of insects. Determined to understand bugs in all their glory, Flick will gleefully purchase any caught by a player, while also hosting Bug-Offs to encourage others to explore this passion.
Gemini - Tom Nook
Strong and intelligent communicators with an innate curiosity, the Gemini's symbol is the Twins, and those who fall under the sign are characterized as having two distinct aspects which they display to those around them.
Although Tom Nook is popularly seen as an enemy to the player, with his steep loans and love for money, some fans have a theory which shows his duality, believing that Tom Nook is actually the hero of the Animal Crossing franchise, in both how he cares for Timmy and Tommy, and how he handles a town or island's infrastructure. In any case, Nook is definitely a Gemini because of his far-reaching expertise.
Cancer - Daisy Mae
Largely viewed as an emotional sign, Cancers have more to them than first meets the eye, being nurturing and intuitive, as well as having a high regard for their families.

Virgo - Celeste
Smart and known for their attention to detail, Virgos are kind souls who will always help out a friend in need, no matter what problems they are facing.
The Animal Crossing character who has the most in-game knowledge of both astrology and astronomy, Celeste, fits under the Virgo sign perfectly, as her pursuit of education around outer space is her main objective in the game. Alongside this she is kind and helpful to players, always providing them with information on constellations and (in New Horizons) special DIY recipes.
Libra - Blathers
With the Scales as their symbol, Libras are all about harmony, with an intellect and diplomacy that helps them to keep things in balance.
Museum curator Blathers is a wise owl who can identify animals, fossils, and paintings at a glance, meticulously categorizing them for display with ease. Though he has a strong aversion to insects, this Libra is willing to handle and discuss them for the greater vision of his institution, proving his dedication.
Scorpio - Redd
Highly resourceful and strategic, Scorpios are self-sufficient people with a keen ability to read others, but this doesn't make them cold, as they are also expressive.
While a selection of art dealer Redd's paintings and sculptures are always genuine, this kitsune embodies the clever nature of both his sign and animal, often selling fakes to unsuspecting customers. At the same time, his charisma draws people in, a skill he makes great use of and a trait he shares with many Scorpios.
Sagittarius - Isabelle
Playful, caring, and independent, the Sagittarius is generous with their time, and more often than not will have a positive outlook on life, as well as a desire to lift up others.
As she often acts in a supporting role to the player, Isabelle is a great embodiment of the Sagittarius' philosophy, willing to assist those around her and exuding joy through her sweet sayings. She also loves her job and is highly proficient in her position.
Capricorn - Tortimer
Capricorns are organized, mature, and familiar with managing their responsibilities, while also having a fondness for jokes and sarcasm.
An iconic fixture of the Animal Crossing series, Tortimer was mayor of a player's town in early games, but in the most recent two installments has retired from work. Though he enjoyed his position of power, often declaring to players his responsibilities as mayor, Tortimer also fits the Capricorn trait of being a jokester, proven when he takes on the role of Cornimer, a tortoise wearing an acorn-shaped mask.
Aquarius - Brewster
Mysterious and imaginative, those of the Aquarius sign are often motivated by their wish to make the world a better place, with an interest in the environment.
As shown in many Brewster memes that are too good, this barista pigeon can be somewhat cold to players when they first meet, but this mystery gradually reveals a caring personality the more that Brewster is interacted with. In New Horizons, Brewster's affinity for gyroids also ties him to an Aquarius' love of nature.
Pisces - C.J.
Pisces is a very creative sign, making them capable of adapting to many circumstances, but at the same time, they can be sensitive and have strong emotional reactions.
It's apt that C.J. aligns with this aquatic sign, given his love of fishing, and as host of the Fishing Tourney, he puts his knowledge of the subject to good use. C.J. shows his Pisces creativity in creating content for his fishing livestreams, and reacts with unrestrained delight when players help him in this endeavor.
