An Animal Crossing: New Horizons player has discovered that Celeste can dance alongside the player whenever a dancing reaction is used. Villagers have been shown to react to reactions in various ways, and Celeste is no different in this aspect.

Celeste is one of many special NPCs that can visit players' islands, and she is among the most valued of the NPCs due to her functionality. She can appear on a clear night, but will always appear whenever a large meteor shower happens. She gives players special DIYs in order to make various astrology furniture, as well as zodiac furniture depending on the month. Celeste can also give star or zodiac fragments if the player already has all the astronomical DIYs, and she also tells stories of all of the zodiac signs. For those reasons, she’s essential for obtaining some of the more popular decorative items to use in Animal Crossing: New Horizons such as the crescent-moon chair and nova light.

Reddit user weirdandobvious posted a video clip of Celeste dancing with the player. While they and Celeste wish upon some shooting stars, they use the "Feelin’ it" reaction to do some dance moves, and Celeste briefly joins them before she goes back to wandering the island. It’s a small, but cute little touch that brings more personality into these characters.

The dance reaction used was introduced in the Festivale update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Past updates for the game have introduced new reactions that the player can use. The Festivale update implemented several dance reactions to go along with the holiday, and the Halloween update added reactions that were used to scare villagers. One reaction that pleased many Animal Crossing fans was the ability to sit down with villagers. It’s unknown if more reactions will be added in future updates to the game.

But the fact that NPCs can react to reactions including the dancing ones shows the level of detail put into Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ characters. Similar to the sitting reaction, seeing characters react and do the same actions that the player does provide a layer of chemistry to the characters and the world. Above all else though, it’s just simply cute seeing an anthropomorphic owl character dance alongside an Animal Crossing villager. If more reactions get added to Animal Crossing: New Horizons in the future, it’ll be nice to see villagers replicating those actions, creating more wholesome interactions for players to witness.
