Following the game's lengthy content drought, the announcement of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Brewster and The Roost cafe update has reinvigorated its fan community. Nintendo offered few specifics about the nature of Brewster's role in New Horizons, but his return suggests new activities and welcome changes to Animal Crossing's player islands.

Fans have been expecting Brewster's addition to Animal Crossing: New Horizons for quite some time, but the long gap after the latest major update led some to believe it would never come to fruition. Brewster's arrival represents a significant moment, especially for players new to the Animal Crossing franchise who have never had a chance to meet the shy, teal pigeon with glasses and a passion for coffee. In past games, his personality somewhat resembled Sable Abel; often, the brewer was withdrawn until players interacted with him enough times.

The relationships players form with characters like Sable and Brewster are a big part of what makes Animal Crossing so beloved, and New Horizons arguably failed to capitalize on this after its release, as it didn't introduce any new, permanent villagers during the height of the game's popularity. Brewster allows new and old players to begin another relationship - one that's not limited by store hours.

Perhaps the most important distinction of The Roost cafe in Animal Crossing's museum is that it will give players an activity to pursue once the island has shut down for the night. Many players may struggle with Animal Crossing's real-time clock, as it can prevent progress for those who are busy with real-life responsibilities during the day. As shown in the Brewster ACNH teaser trailer, The Roost is always open, giving players something to do no matter their schedule. The only glimpse fans received of The Roost itself was a blurred image in the teaser trailer, so it's unclear what activities will actually be available there. However, it at least appears Animal Crossing: New Horizons is about to receive a new, aesthetically appealing location to relax and socialize in.

Animal Crossing fans may also be excited by the return of Brewster due to the character's love of gyroids, a robotic species that was once responsible for vital mechanics in the Animal Crossing games. GameCube's Animal Crossing featured a personal gyroid that handled everything from save files to storage, and different gyroids could be collected and used as interactive decorations. The sole gyroid in New Horizons is the one that appears when constructing a bridge, but Brewster's return could bring back a few more.

Nintendo hasn't yet announced the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Brewster release date. The promotional image for Brewster suggests additional content is joining the game alongside The Roost cafe, but these additions are also unknowns. Nintendo will likely reveal more information in the October Animal Crossing Direct Livestream, which likewise does not have a set date at the time of writing.
