There is an abundance of new furniture in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, such as chairs, sofas, tables, and beds. Players can also customize each piece of furniture to best match their color scheme and overall aesthetic. The furniture fits with a few specific themes as well. For example, all of the cool furniture pieces have a sleek, modern design with a shiny metal frame. The style for both the frame and the cushions for each piece in the set can be changed. Players can also use this furniture set in an arcade or retro-style home with the right customizations.
Having themed items helps to make a player's home stand out. There are carnival items, like the Plaza Gaming Stand or the Plaza Ferris Wheel, as well as old western items such as the Covered Wagon. A lot of the themed items can easily be unlocked for players that build vacation homes in the Happy Home Paradise DLC. Each of the hundreds of new furniture items has a specific aesthetic that's unlike any of the pieces previously available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Another interesting new set is the elegant furniture. Everything in the standard elegant set is made of gold, making these furniture pieces perfect for an expensive, high-class home. Items like the new Fancy Bathroom Vanity fit in nicely with the elegant furniture as well. Players have a large number of unique furniture options to add to or completely remodel their homes.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 includes a large selection of new wall-mounted items. From new villager posters to shelves with stuffed animals on them, players have a myriad of choices for accentuating their rooms with unique wall decorations. There are also new clocks as well as different glowing items like stickers or glowing moss. As with the other items introduced in Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0, most of the wall-mounted pieces can be customized either in style, color, or both.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 - New Food Items
Farming and cooking are a large part of the 2.0 update in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and there are a variety of new food items players can place around their houses to stylize each room. For example, cakes, bread, and sweets can be used in a bakery-style room or kitchen to add to the authentic atmosphere. There are also various entreés players can display as well as grouped items, like the popcorn and soda tray.
In order to unlock the food items, players will either need to buy or cook them. There are DIY cooking recipes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons that can be bought at Nook's Cranny, found in bottles, or learned from NPCs. While farming, players also may get an idea for a recipe. To grow ingredients, players need to buy starters from Leif when he visits their island or on Harv's island if his shop has been opened. Each food item is unique and can be crafted once the recipe is obtained.

One of the more prominent new features in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the addition of ceiling decorations. Players can now add depth to each room with hanging lights or use ceiling decorations to enhance their style. These new items help players be more expressive and set their homes apart from others. Ceiling decorations can be obtained at the store, through DIY recipes, or at the island resort included in the Happy Home Paradise DLC.
The ceiling is split into a 12 by 12 grid that players can fill up as much as they want. There is a mix of different types of lights, like fluorescent lights, lanterns, or chandeliers. Players can also decorate their homes with a variety of drapery, ceiling fans, shelves, and other hanging furniture items. Having the ceiling decorations in the game makes homes seem more realistic and stylized.
In order to use ceiling decorations, players will need to buy the Pro Decorating License in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Players can obtain this new product at the Nook Stop in the Resident Services building. Once it's purchased, players can use the ceiling decorations on their homes, vacations homes, and while remodeling island resident houses.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 - New Clothing Items
Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can customize their homes with various articles of clothing, including new hats, tops, bottoms, and dresses. With the addition of Kicks' shop on Harv's island, players will also have access to more shoes, socks, and bags to display. Each clothing shop will be restocked with new items daily. Putting clothes on display can show off a player's unique style or allow them to create their own version of a clothing store in their house.
With hundreds of new items that amount to thousands of variations, players can truly have a one-of-a-kind home in Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0. Having the ability to remodel resident homes also gives players to fully customize their entire island inside and out. Customizing previously static items, and unlocking an abundance of new ones, adds to the individual experience for each player in Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0.
