Animal Crossing New Horizons’ 2.0 update and DLC Happy Home Paradise are adding new ways for players to use their amiibo cards. Animal Crossing amiibo cards have been very hard to come by since New Horizons' launch. Fortunately, series five will be releasing on Friday, November 5, and this new set of amiibo cards includes all of the new special characters and villagers from New Horizons as well as an entire new batch of villagers.

The New Horizons 2.0 update was initially scheduled to be released on November 5 as well. But as a surprise to fans, the anticipated New Horizons update was released two days early on November 3. Players can install the update right now by pressing the options button on their Home Screen and going to “Software Updates.” The update size is pretty large, however, so a steady internet connection is recommended. The installation and update time will likely take about 30 to 45 minutes.

Before the 2.0 update, players were able to use amiibo cards in only two ways. The first was to bring characters that were not living on their islands to Harv’s Island, where they could dress up and take photos with these characters. The only other way to use amiibos was to bring villagers to the campsite. Amiibo cards didn’t have any uses besides these. The 2.0 update and the DLC finally change that.

Animal Crossing Amiibos: Players Can Invite Characters For Coffee

Animal Crossing Roost Everything To Do In Brewster's Cafe Amiibo

One of the most highly anticipated - and demanded - component of the Animal Crossing New Horizons 2.0 update is Brewster. Brewster is the owner and proprietor of The Roost, a café located in the museum. Instead of its usual location in the basement, The Roost is now located on the second floor of the museum. To unlock Brewster, players will need to speak to Blathers, who will send the player on a mission to find Brewster. He has gone off the grid in search of gyroids, so players will need to take a trip with Kapp’n to one of his mystery islands. Once players have located this elusive pigeon, they will simply need to give him Blather’s message, and he will come to the island.

Once players have Brewster and the Roost on their islands, they will be able to use whatever Animal Crossing amiibo cards they have to invite characters out for a cup of coffee. To do this, players will simply need to go to the phone in the left corner of the café and follow the directions. As an extra little feature, the characters players call can also bring other characters with this. This could lead to a number of surprising encounters, each completely unique. Additionally, players will not need to own the series five amiibo set to utilize this feature, as previous sets work just fine.

Animal Crossing Amiibos: Players Can Invite Characters To The Resort Archipelago

Animal Crossing New Horizons' DLC Happy Home Paradise gives the player a job at a resort archipelago creating the perfect vacation homes for a variety of Animal Crossing characters. This DLC promises to bring many hours of new content to the game as well as new interactions and gameplay. Players will be able to fully customize each vacation home while still keeping in mind each character’s preferences. While the number of vacation goers that will be staying at the resort hasn’t been revealed yet, players will still be able to have a much larger variety of villagers and special characters to interact with.

Random characters may arrive at the resort looking for a vacation home, as well as villagers from the player’s island. But with amiibo cards, players will be able to invite whoever they please. In a similar fashion as The Roost, players will need to go to the resort’s main office and interact with the amiibo station. Because each player’s home island can only hold ten villagers at a time, Happy Home Paradise provides the perfect opportunity for players to visit with even more of their favorite Animal Crossing characters.
