Terraforming is a very cool feature in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. With it, players can sculpt their island to their liking, customizing the design and layout as they see fit.

Of course, there are bound to be players who are very creative and willing to unleash their boundless creativity. When it comes to using terraforming tools, many players have taken great liberties to make their island look as extravagant as possible. These ten Animal Crossing players have made the best use of terraforming, which has led to some magnificent—and a bit over-the-top—results.

Island of Symmetry

Terraforming for some players can be quite difficult, but that doesn't seem to be the case for this creative mind. A YouTuber by the name of Sera crafted a completely symmetrical island, and its symmetry is completely on point.

Houses are on either side of the island, and the shops and museums are perfectly centered. The airport and town hall are both lined up perfectly in the middle. Each side of the island feels different in its own special way, but it's perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

Disney-Inspired Island

Judging from the looks of this island, this Animal Crossing player has a huge obsession with all things Disney. From the majestic Disney-inspired castle to the many Disney references throughout town, there is magic at every corner of the island.

It's abundantly clear that the creator of the island used a lot of terraforming to fit every ounce of Disney magic possible in every area of her island. The cliffs and waterfalls add to the island's whole aesthetic and look especially pleasing at nighttime. Given how much the creator loves Disney, the attention to detail is beyond remarkable.

Fancy Island

When it comes to islands that have a bit of elegant flair to them, an island like this most certainly takes the cake. Made by a YouTuber by the name of Green, this island has it all; a carnival, a park, and even a recycling area!

Given the level of fanciness, there is expected to be a lot of decorations. This island has decorations aplenty, with harps and flamingos placed on small, isolated islands. These decorations, along with the waterfalls, add to the island's unique style.

Haunted Island

This player's island has a very spooky vibe to it, with a lot of scary stuff at every turn. A lot of themes are encompassed in this island, including a pumpkin patch, a maze, and even a grounded pirate ship.

But, what really makes this haunted island a genius one is the plethora of wicked ideas used in the island's landscaping. Those who visit the island can cross a log bridge, or even go through a maze. Considering that the creator put over 1900 hours into their island, a lot of brilliant ideas are put on display.

An Island To The Past

One huge plus about terraforming is that it gives players the ability to craft islands inspired by their favorite video games. A Legend of Zelda fan on the Animal Crossing subreddit just so happened to build their island based on Hyrule in A Link to the Past.

Needless to say, the creator of the island captures the spirit of A Link to a Past perfectly. All of the game's important locations, such as the Waterfall of Wishing and Desert of Mystery, are crafted exceptionally well. It is a very detailed island that even the most diehard Zelda fan would appreciate.

Cyberpunk Island

Cyberpunk seems to be a popular theme these days, and this one island is a full-on cyberpunk city. It has all the perks that any city would have, abundant with neon signs and custom-designed roads.

But, what really drives the cyberpunk theme home is the many shopping districts that litter the island. A lot of venues exist on this island, including a pharmacy and a factory. A few elements, such as a few satellites and telephone poles, are added in, and it makes the island feel like an actual city.

Detailed Island

From the looks of this island, this Animal Crossing player has spent a lot of their time terraforming—and they made the best use of it, too.

It is safe to say that every space of this island is full to the brim with detail. With trees and flowers scattered about, waterfalls at every turn, and multiple inclines, one would be hard-pressed to find any sort of green. One could make a good argument that the island looks mostly cluttered with how the items are assembled, but the beauty cannot be overlooked.

Island of Perspective

Many custom terraforming designs in New Horizons are seriously on point. However, there is one Animal Crossing player who took their designs to the next level.

At first glance, it looks like this island a little high up, as if there is some kind of abyss underneath. In actuality, the creator of the island uses a kind of ground design that creates a unique high-up perspective. This perspective is further enhanced by the high cliffs and the custom-designed walls that add a level of depth and dimension to the already spectacular island.

Three Islands...In One?

For even the most dedicated Animal Crossing fan, making three different islands in one landmass seems like a huge undertaking. Yet, for one player, they managed to get the job done. Each one of the three "islands" has its own distinct style. One island has a Buddhist them, and another is a royal library that has somewhat of a Greek flair to it. The third "island" is inspired by Egyptian culture and even includes an Egyptian market.

Even though the "islands" are stylistically different from one another, the creator has done a great job at combining them seamlessly well.

An Entire Island... Destroyed!

Terraforming an island can be hard. For some players, going through the trouble of completely redesigning an island may require too much effort, or simply takes too much time. But, if you have no clue what to do with terraforming, the best option is to just destroy your entire island.

This user from the Animal Crossing subreddit didn't know what to do with terraforming, so they decided to just completely demolish their entire island. While important venues such as Nook's Cranny and the airport remain intact, there is literally nothing but water everywhere else. Perfect for some fishing!
