The Hollywood Reporter confirmed yesterday that Angelina Jolie will definitely be in attendance at this year's San Diego Comic-Con 2010 to promote her new action/spy film Salt. Jolie will appear at the convention during Sony's 1:00pm Hall H presentation on Thursday, July 22. Along with Salt, Sony is promoting the Aaron Echkart sci-fi film Battle: Los Angeles.
Interestingly, Salt will be released nationwide on the Friday of the convention (July 23rd). Typically, Comic-Con is the place for studios to show off footage from films that are still in production, or won't be released for some time, and create early buzz around projects.
Considering that the movie opens the day after the panel, and they have already released multiple trailers and clips from the film, I wonder how much new material Sony will be showing. Then again, it probably doesn't matter too much in the grand scheme of things. Jolie is one of the world's biggest movie stars and having her on the panel will make this a big-time event.
Besides Salt, there are a few other things Jolie may be asked about during her time at Comic-Con, including why dhe didn't want to come back for Wanted 2. (Though, to her credit, Jolie already answered that question quite pointedly in a recent interview.)
One thought on the minds of the celebrity-obsessed, though not something I particularly care about, is whether Jolie and her long-time partner Brad Pitt will appear at Comic-Con together. Brad Pitt is not scheduled to be in attendance, but he does have a film at the convention: Dreamworks' Megamind, which also stars Tina Fey, Will Ferrell, and Jonah Hill.
