Watch What Happens Live's Andy Cohen and Ryan Seacrest have long been suspected of feuding over their New Year's Eve specials. Anderson Cooper previously hosted CNN's New Year's Eve coverage with Kathy Griffin until she was replaced by Andy. Andy and Anderson's dynamic partnership has resonated with CNN audiences opting for a cocktail on the couch rather than a night at the club.

Andy and Anderson's program has become known for its wild moments thanks to plenty of drinking on air. Meanwhile, Ryan has assumedly been sober while hosting Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve on ABC since 2006. Ryan's broadcast is overall a more serious affair and always has been.

How The Ryan & Andy Feud Started

Ryan Seacrest on New Year's Rockin' Eve

The Ryan and Andy New Year's feud seemingly started during Andy and Anderson's tipsy broadcast last year when Andy said, "If you look behind me, you'll see Ryan Seacrest's group of losers performing," followed by, "I'm sorry, but if you're watching ABC, you're watching nothing." Andy did apologize for blasting Ryan while inebriated. Andy said he liked Ryan, and it really was the booze talking.

Leading up to the most recent broadcast, CNN made the decision to reduce the talent's onscreen drinking during the celebration. Soon after, Ryan took a stand about drunken behavior, telling Entertainment Tonight, "I don't know how that started as a tradition, but it's probably a good idea [to scale back]."

Andy & Anderson Still Had Fun On New Year's Eve

The beef with Andy wasn't that deep, however, because Ryan said in the same ET interview that he'd consider sending over some "Casa Dragones tequila just to tempt them while they're on the air." During a more sober evening, Andy and Anderson discussed parenthood and did many interviews. However, the lack of drinking didn't stop the pair from some saucy moments on CNN, including perusing comedian Cheri Oteri's doll collection and discussing Nick Cannon's potential vasectomy, thoroughly amusing viewers in the process.

Next year, the on-air tequila shots could be back in action. The best way to rectify this more sober CNN New Year is to bring Ryan over for a shot with Andy and Anderson. Though it would be hard to accomplish with both shows airing, it could very well happen afterward.

On January 5, Ryan even posted to Instagram to share Andy's appearance on his radio show where the two cleared the air. Ryan also suggested, "next year let’s find each other after the show for a toast!" It's clear that, as far as Ryan and Andy are concerned, their feud is in the past. However, that could change by next New Year's Eve.
