What are all of Andrew Garfield’s upcoming movies? The earnest and versatile actor has been on screen since 2005 and has had a storied and successful career in film, television, and on stage since then. With a sizeable filmography and numerous awards and nominations, what’s next for Andrew Garfield? Along with lead roles in two upcoming TV shows, Garfield is set to star in two feature films, both scheduled for release in 2021.

Andrew Garfield’s first big cinematic role was in 2007’s Boy A, where he received high praise for his role as an ex-convict trying to reacquaint himself with society. Garfield broke out further in 2010 with the release of The Social Network. Easily the biggest role of Andrew Garfield’s career to date, however, was that of Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man. Garfield brought charisma and humor to the iconic superhero in 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man and 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Though the movies themselves weren't as well-received, Garfield’s iteration of the character offered a fresh spin while nailing the snarky jokes of Spider-Man.

The Eyes of Tammy Faye

Andrew Garfield and Jessica Chastain in The Eyes of Tammy Faye

Based on the eponymous documentary from 2000, The Eyes of Tammy Faye will be a dramatization of the life of televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker. Andrew Garfield will portray Tammy’s husband, Jim Bakker, a fellow televangelist notorious for a long history of fraud and sexual misconduct. The film will likely make full use of Garfield’s talents as the equal parts comedic and despicable fraudster. Along with co-star Jessica Chastain, the film’s cast includes Cherry Jones and Vincent D'Onofrio. The Eyes of Tammy Faye will premiere at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival on September 12th before releasing on September 17th, 2021.

Tick, Tick... Boom!

A cinematic adaptation of the autobiographical musical, Tick, Tick... Boom! is based on the life of RENT creator and composer Jonathan Larson, who struggles with feelings of inadequacy and a lack of professional fulfillment as he nears the end of his 20s. Andrew Garfield will star as Larson, and the cast also includes Vanessa Hudgens, Alexandra Shipp, and Robin de Jesús. Given Garfield’s previous film roles, the emotional and melancholic Tick, Tick... Boom! is sure to make excellent use of his range. Tick, Tick... Boom! will premiere at the AFI Fest on November 10th before a limited theatrical release on November 12th and a streaming release on Netflix on November 19th.

Other Upcoming Roles

Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man with Doctor Strange in No Way Home

In addition to The Eyes of Tammy Faye and Tick, Tick... Boom!, Andrew Garfield is set to star in the upcoming miniseries Under the Banner of Heaven, based on a 2003 crime drama of the same name. Garfield will also star as Charles Ryder in Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming remake of Brideshead Revisited. While unconfirmed, Andrew Garfield is strongly rumored to be reprising his role as Peter Parker in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home, alongside predecessor Tobey Maguire and successor Tom Holland as their respective iterations of the Marvel superhero. Should these rumors prove true, Andrew Garfield will have one more upcoming movie in 2021 that is sure to please his fans.
