To the shock and delight of Marvel fans, Spider-Man: No Way Home brought back Andrew Garfield as the Amazing Spider-Man. Though The Amazing Spider-Man movies ended after just two entries, many fans held Garfield in high regard and his return was so well-received rumors are swirling that the actor could continue on as Spider-Man in a number of places in both the MCU and the Sony Spider-Verse of movies.

Sony originally had very ambitious plans for the Garfield Spider-Man in their expanding Sony Spider-Man universe. They could return to those plans if Garfield is up for playing the role, and reports are that he is. The multiverse is expanding through every corner of the greater Marvel Universe, so there are many opportunities for Garfield to return.

Sinister Six Movie

The many powerful members of the Sinister Six have menaced Spider-Man in Marvel Comics, and Sony has been trying to introduce the supervillain team in the movies dating back to the Garfield iteration of the franchise. With the success of No Way Home, it's very possible they go back to these plans.

If the villains in the Sony Spider-Man universe like Venom and Morbius are in the same universe, as seems to be the case, it could be the Garfield universe or a version of it. These villains, including Kraven, could eventually team up against Spider-Man in a future movie.

Spider-Man 4 (MCU)

One of the most shocking MCU moments of 2021 was the Garfield appearance in No Way Home. Though he went back to this native timeline at the end of the movie, there's no reason he couldn't come back. In fact, he may have to.

Venom returns to his universe in the post-credits scene of the movie with knowledge of the MCU Spider-Man, and the villain also left a bit of symbiote goo behind. That could potentially lead the powerful alien symbiote to return to the MCU, and Garfield could pursue him if they belong to the same universe.

Morbius

It remains unclear what universe the upcoming Morbius movie takes place in, as it features Michael Keaton as the MCU Vulture but also references Venom. It's possible that Morbius is located within the universe of the Amazing Spider-Man, meaning Garfield could appear.

Morbius keeps getting delayed, but these delays could work in the movie's favor if they add Garfield to the story. Comic book fans know Morbius is a complicated figure in Spider-Man's world, and the heavy focus on science in The Amazing Spider-Man movies could lend itself to a Morbius connection.

Kraven The Hunter

Kraven's Last Hunt is one of the best Spider-Man comic books of the 1980s, and it's possible that the upcoming Kraven movie adapts it. It wouldn't work without a Spider-Man though, and that could lead to Garfield bringing the story to life.

Along with the other Sony movies like Venom and the upcoming Morbius, Kraven the Hunter could be set in the same universe and it could be the Amazing Spider-Man universe, allowing the villains to finally face off against their own version of Spider-Man.

Spider-Woman

Olivia Wilde is directing an upcoming Sony Marvel movie set in the studio's shared Spider-Man world, and it's speculated to involve Spider-Woman. It's possible this movie could emerge from the Garfield universe. Depending on which version of Spider-Woman it is, it may make a lot of sense.

Spider-Gwen is a version of Spider-Woman from the multiverse, and it could be a fascinating wrinkle in the story of the Amazing Spider-Man to have Emma Stone return as a new version of Gwen Stacy, who died at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Loki

Mobius leads Loki into the Time Variance Authority in Loki.

The MCU is exploring the multiverse in a number of places, and one of the most important is Loki. It's possible that one of Spider-Man: No Way Home's many different timelines, including the Andrew Garfield universe, could be visited in the series' second season.

When the Sacred Timeline fractured in Loki's season finale, it opened the door to infinite possibilities within the MCU. If No Way Home leads to a greater integration between all the live-action franchises of Marvel characters in the MCU, Garfield could appear again here.

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness seems as though it will deal with the fallout of Doctor Strange's actions in No Way Home. Given the fact that the movie continues to deal with the multiverse, it's possible that Doctor Strange encounters the Garfield Spider-Man again.

If there are lingering after-effects of the spell Doctor Strange cast in No Way Home, it may lead him to try and repair it by seeking out the characters connected to it, including the Garfield Spider-Man and perhaps others.

Secret Wars

It's possible that the MCU could be building toward Secret Wars, a major storyline from the 2015 comics, where Doctor Doom combined all realities into one single universe called Battleworld. If this happens in the MCU, Andrew Garfield could find himself back on screen.

Numerous versions of Spider-Man are featured in the 2015 crossover event, including Miles Morales from the Ultimate Universe of Earth-616. It could be a way to bring back every version of Spider-Man in the movies so far and introduce new ones.

Venom 3

Venom doesn't get much of a chance to do anything in the MCU before going back to his original timeline. But that timeline could be the same as the Amazing Spider-Man. If it is, then Andrew Garfield could make an appearance in the upcoming Venom 3.

Spider-Man hasn't appeared so far in the Venom movies, but all the characters in No Way Home who cross over are characters who know Spider-Man and in the case of the other five villains, from only two other franchises (Tobey Maguire and Garfield). The Tom Hardy Venom is definitely not from the Maguire universe, meaning he could be from the Garfield one.

The Amazing Spider-Man 3

The reaction to Andrew Garfield's return in No Way Home could lead to more than just future cameos or supporting roles. He could return in The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which could continue the franchise as Tom Holland continues to be the MCU Spider-Man.

This would be an enormous win for everybody involved, as it brings back a fan favorite in Garfield and also allows Sony and the MCU to continue to explore the character of Spider-Man in a way that lets both companies do what they want and still give fans some great cinema.
