Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Andor episode 12Following the end of Andor season 1, only one major Imperial cameo would be perfect for season 2, and it's not Emperor Palpatine or Grand Admiral Thrawn. After the events of the season 1 finale, Cassian Andor will become even more involved in the Rebel cause and the Alliance that will unite in earnest. However, the Empire's systems of oppression are only going to grow, necessitating the need for a secret project to start taking the spotlight.

With Andor's post-credits scene confirming the near-completion of the Death Star, an appearance by Director Orson Krennic makes sense on multiple levels. Krennic was the chief director in charge of Project Stardust before the battle station was taken over by Grand Moff Tarkin. As such, he served as the chief antagonist in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (portrayed by Ben Mendelsohn), which is the endpoint that Andor season 2 is headed for.

Why Krennic Would Be A Perfect Andor Season 2 Cameo

Orson Krennic and the Death Star in Star Wars Rogue One

Given Andor's compelling focus on the hierarchy and politics within the Imperial Security Bureau, an appearance by Orson Krennic makes a lot of sense. Considering the top-secret nature of the Death Star during its construction, it stands to reason that high-ranking members of ISB would be among the few aside from Krennic to know of its existence beyond Grand Moff Tarkin, Darth Vader, and Emperor Palpatine. Even if it's only to provide a report of the status of Project Stardust and/or question the recent production disruptions following the prison riot on Marina 5, an appearance by Krennic would certainly be worthwhile, supporting Andor's progression toward Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

From a production standpoint, it probably wouldn't be difficult to have an appearance —however long — from Krennic. After all, Ben Mendelsohn's next confirmed project for Disney is Marvel's Secret Invasion series where he will reprise the role of Talos, the shape-shifting Skrull he first played in Captain Marvel followed by a cameo in Spider-Man: Far From Home. As such, he certainly wouldn't be a stranger to the idea if Lucasfilm wants to make a similar cameo happen for Andor season 2 with Director Krennic.

Why Krennic Would Be A Better Andor Cameo Than Thrawn Or Palpatine

Emperor Palpatine and Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars.

While appearances from Emperor Palpatine or Grand Admiral Thrawn would be exciting moments full of hype, Andor has been praised for its deviation from the typical model that's been seen with prior Star Wars series on Disney+. The references to Palpatine and the handful of name-drops in Andor season 1 are just as engaging if not more so with the focus being on how he's affected others and the political landscape on a galactic level, rather than just being focused on his mere presence.

Although Grand Admiral Thrawn has ties to ISB and excelled at hunting down Rebel cells, his presence as a villain will be better felt during The Mandalorian-era with series like Ahsoka considering all the hype surrounding his live-action debut. In comparison, a potential cameo from Director Orson Krennic feels more natural due to the Death Star's construction and ties to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He's not so big of a character that his presence would dominate Andor season 2 like Palpatine or Thrawn's undoubtedly would.
