Andor star, Denise Gough, recently teased Dedra Meero's season 2 arc juicy payoff. Set five years before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the latest live-action Star Wars series chronicles Cassian Andor's (Diego Luna) journey from a smuggler to a battle-hardened Rebel spy. Gough stars as Dedra, a ruthless Supervisor in the Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) who will stop at nothing to kill or capture Cassian and to crack down on the rising insurgence against the Empire.

In a recent interview with IndieWire, Gough teased Dedra's character arc payoff in Andor season 2. The actor compared the villain to Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski) from The Handmaid's Tale, a character who at times has used her femininity to achieve her goals. Comparing her character to Serena, Gough explained that Dedra "just can’t do that." Hinting at what's to come for Dedra, the actor revealed her interaction with Andor showrunner, Tony Gilroy, when discussing Dedra's season 2 arc. Read what Gough said below:

“The payoff is just so juicy. She’s not just gonna fall in love and become good. [Gilroy] laughed at me when I asked that. He just doesn’t do stuff like that, Tony. [The writers] don’t make women like that. Every character is more interesting than it would be with lesser writers.”

Andor Season 1 Dedra Meero in Imperial base

As one of only two women on the ISB's Security Council, Andor season 1 saw Dedra quickly rise in the ranks to one of Major Partagaz's (Anton Lesser) top Supervisors. The season ended with Dedra leading a sting operation to capture Cassian on his return to Ferrix to attend his mother's funeral procession. However, things do not go as planned when Maarva's (Fiona Shaw) final message incites an uprising against the Empire. With Dedra caught in the middle of a violent chaotic riot, she is saved by Syril Karn (Kyle Soller), the disgraced former Deputy Inspector for Preox-Morlana.

Following the incident on Ferrix, Dedra will likely be convinced of an organized effort to dismantle the Galactic Empire. She, and the ISB, will commit more resources to uncover the agents of the Rebellion in an attempt to crush the insurgents once and for all. With Syril proving himself as Dedra's savior, the Supervisor may hire the former inspector as a partner in her quest for Cassian.
