Adria Arjona reveals the lifelong connection between her character and Cassian in Andor. Arjona will be making her Star Wars debut as Bix Caleen in the upcoming series, which explores the early days of the Rebellion effort as well as Cassian Andor's dark and tumultuous backstory. The "spy-thriller" will focus on the day-to-day lives of those in the galaxy who struggle to make their voices heard amid the oppression of the Empire and do whatever it takes to free themselves from their rule.

With much of Cassian's own backstory still unknown, there's much left to learn about the character, as well as those he once surrounded himself with. Audiences first meet a Cassian whose only true friend is a reprogrammed Imperial droid, and though the beloved K-2SO shouldn't be underrated, that speaks volumes about the man Cassian becomes between the events of his childhood and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Andor now gives audiences the chance to see what kinds of people, places, and events shaped Cassian into the cutthroat, dedicated Rebel viewers first saw him as.

Arjona now goes into detail on how her character, Bix, may contribute to Cassian's future and his Andor story. Speaking exclusively to Screen Rant, the actor reveals Bix is a caring person, at times to a fault. She describes the dynamic between her and Cassian as "interesting," before going on to explain that the two are childhood friends. Read Arjona's full quote below:

[Bix] is incredibly caring of the people around her—sometimes at her own detriment—and she's a childhood friend of Cassian Andor. They have such an interesting dynamic, those two. Because they've known each other for so long, it's sort of like their trust has been broken and rebuilt and broken and rebuilt. And every time he steps into her life, something shifts. He always comes with trouble, that Cassian. He's something.

That's Bix. I'm in love and obsessed with her and the journey that she goes on in the show, and I'm so excited for everybody to watch it.

Adria Arjona as Bix Caleen in Andor

Previously, the only characters viewers saw Cassian connect to on a deeper level were K-2SO and Jyn in Rogue One. With Bix, it's likely audiences will get to see how Cassian used to relate to the people in his life before dedicating himself fully to the Rebellion effort. Judging by Bix's absence in Rogue One, it's also possible that a tragedy involving her could be the very reason why Cassian pulled away from others later in his life, especially with Arjona teasing that her strong care for others can sometimes be "at her own detriment."

Arjona's reference to trouble always following Cassian seems to hint at Bix being a part of his adventures for at least a brief time, whether they be directly with the Rebellion or just before he's officially recruited by Stellan Skarsgård's Luthen Rael. No matter how the events play out, it's likely the connection between Bix and Cassian will be important in the story Andor tells about who the Rebellion fighter goes on to become. Arjona's Bix is just one of many new Andor characters that will be joining the Star Wars galaxy when the series premieres with three episodes on September 21.
