A brand-new gameplay trailer for Among Us VR shows off the virtual reality title's new gameplay features alongside its new Skeld II map. The original version of the mobile social deduction game, created by indie developer Innersloth, tasks some players with repairing a spaceship while others hunt them as shapeshifting alien Impostors. Last year an Among Us VR trailer announced a brand-new and highly-immersive version of the beloved title, which is intended for release this year.

While it was first released in 2018, Among Us received a massive spike in popularity in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The multiplayer title sees most players assume the role of crewmates, who must complete various minigame tasks across the map in order to win the match. Impostors, meanwhile, are visibly identical to crewmates but have the objective of killing other players and avoiding persecution. Among Us VR looks to breathe new life into the beloved game by fully immersing players in its world. A recent Among Us VR gameplay trailer demonstrated how the experience will translate into first-person, and now a number of new features have been revealed for the virtual reality edition of the game.

Among Us VR developer Schell Games (via YouTube) revealed a new gameplay trailer during IGN Summer of Gaming. The video offers a look at how the virtual reality title will adapt minigames, vents, and emergency meetings into a multiplayer VR experience. Players must manually conduct tasks with their hands, for example, and Impostors can traverse vents from a first-person perspective. While the original Among Us map was a spaceship called The Skeld, Among Us VR will take place on a similar yet slightly different map appropriately called The Skeld 2. Other features available at launch include proximity voice chat, single and two-handed locomotion modes, and localization in eight separate languages. The trailer can be viewed below:

While the title's release window is still a mystery, some evidence points to a December release date for Among Us VR. Schell Games' immersive adaptation of the social deduction experience is slated to launch sometime this year, but no official timeframe has been given yet. However, Steam Database recently listed the title's release date as December 13, 2022. This date has in no way been officially confirmed by Schell Games, but a release at the end of the year would let Among Us VR come out just in time for the holidays

Among Us VR appears to be a faithful adaptation that breathes new life into the popular mobile game. The new version of Among Us will take players to Skeld 2 as they engage in immersive tasks, vent in first-person, and conduct emergency meetings using proximity voice chat. While the title's release date is still unknown, Among Us VR promises to be anything but sus.
