A new trailer for Among Us VR has been released, revealing what exactly Impostors see when they are "venting." The original Among Us came out in 2018 and has been a go-to party game for millions of players ever since. It's a sci-fi spin on the game Mafia, where players attempt to figure out who among their group is a traitor.

Following the indie game's explosive rise to prominence in 2020, developer Innersloth began expanding in new and remarkable ways. Arguably the most drastic change to the core experience was announced in December 2021, when Innersloth revealed that it was working on a VR mode for Among Us. This immersive new gameplay style is a radical departure from the base game's overhead camera angle, and the announcement has left many fans wondering how Innersloth will implement it with regards to features like venting, which has historically served as a sneaky way for Impostors to get an edge on their victims.

The new gameplay trailer from Innersloth gives fans a glimpse into the gameplay of Among Us VR, as well as a glimpse into what exactly Impostor players can see in the vents. In the original game, Imposter players can see the immediate area around them before deciding if they want to come out. This appears to stay true in Among Us VR, but now with an entirely different perspective granted by the immersive first-person view of VR. Players can peek directly through the vent covers themselves to see if there are any crewmates around.

Among Us VR brings familiar maps from the original game to a fully realized 3D world for players to experience in a first-person view. The view change is key since players will now be seeing through the eyes of their character instead of a top-down view like in the original, and this may completely change how espionage and identifying Imposters will work in-game. For example, in the updated version, Among Us players can now duck behind corners and have an easier time sneaking around other crewmates without being seen. The trailer also shows that players can use hand gestures, such as finger-pointing and high-fiving each other. With this new change in perspective and form of communication, crewmates will have different factors to consider when surviving and finding the Impostors.

Since the terms "venting" and "sus" were born out of player interaction, one may wonder if new phrases and Impostor identifiers will come from this gameplay change. Since the entire game is based around communicating with each other and identifying liars, fans of the game are fascinated to see how being in VR will affect things. Among Us VR is currently slated to release around the holiday season of 2022, with pages on both the Meta Store and Steam already up for players to wishlist and follow the game's progress.
