InnerSloth's mobile and PC sleeper success, Among Us, could widely benefit from an auto-mute feature while playing the game online. Communication is an important aspect, but only when appropriate. Here's why and how auto-muting should be implemented in the game.

Players aren't really supposed to communicate during Among Us until a meeting is called, but this doesn't always play out as straightforward as it should. This can lead to a lot of frustrations that could easily be avoided with an auto-mute feature. Additionally, players currently have to use another means to voice chat when playing Among Us, such as Discord, which for some can be a little inconvenient to set up just to play the game. It would be nice for Among Us to be able to regulate voice chat instead of relying on an outside application.

In an ideal game, players know when to mute and unmute themselves, but mistakes happen. Auto-muting would leave players with one less technical aspect to worry about. Some groups make sure everyone in the lobby has a mic before starting the game, and other players prefer to type, so there would need to be a way to accommodate all players as well. Many users would appreciate this, as expressed by AndyToskovic's Reddit post and the many fans who agree with it.

Among Us: How & Why Auto-Muting Should Be Implemented

The widely popular Among Us needs an auto-mute feature implemented in the game. When playing and using Discord, users sometimes forgot to silence themselves outside of discussion, so having this option available would prevent unwanted chatting from happening. Likewise, some may forget to turn their mics back on when it is time to talk, and although it isn't too troubling of a task to rectify this, having the game automatically regulate voice chat would help streamline it. New players may not know better as far as when to turn on and off their mics. Additionally, some games get the occasional troll who knowingly says too much, especially if they've just revealed who murdered them, which can ruin the game for everyone. An auto-mute feature would eliminate all of these issues.

Some players prefer to text instead of talk during discussions, while others want everyone to be able to voice chat. Currently, there are many scenarios when a player comes off suspicious simply because it's taking too long for them to type out a response. The mobile keyboard can arguably take more time to type than a computer keyboard, so having an option for the lobby host to choose whether or not players need to actually chat or just type would allow for users to know what they're getting into before starting a session. If everyone is fine with some players only texting, then there should be an easy voice-to-text method so users can communicate quickly and efficiently. Regardless of how players to choose to discuss, Among Us itself should be in charge of controlling when players can talk.

Currently, the Among Us developers are working on new ways to enhance to game. In lieu of making a sequel, they've decided to update their current success. Implementing a well-regulated auto-mute feature seems imperative for the future of the game, and this is something the creators are likely aware needs to happen. It seems more a matter "when" rather than "if" the developers will add this feature.
