Among Us has snatched Fall GuysTwitch crown clean off its squishy head, as the multiplayer title taking place in outer space is now the most watched party game on the streaming service. Considering that Fall Guys kept its high positioning for quite a while, this is an impressive achievement for a simplistic take on Trouble in Terrorist Town.

Fall Guys’ initial launch back in August was hugely successful. After securing the highest viewership figures on Twitch during the preceding beta phase, the game managed to become the most popular title on the streaming platform once again right after it entered full release. The most amazing part of that success was that Fall Guys’ servers were frequently down early due to the unexpected influx of players, which surprisingly didn’t stop viewers and players from investing their time into a game that wasn't always functional at the time. On top of that, Fall Guys also managed to become the most-downloaded PS Plus game ever within just a month of its launch.

According to Twitch's current top-viewed games list, Fall Guys is no longer the most-watched party game on the platform. Instead, that honor goes to Among Us, which occupies the top spot and has for a while now at the time of writing. Meanwhile, Fall Guys has slumped to #27 overall, which is still impressive for an indie with a moderate budget. According to SullyGnome, one of the most credible Twitch stats trackers, the exact numbers for two rival party titles during the previous seven days were the following: Among Us has accumulated over 27 million hours of collective watch time (ranking second behind League of Legends), and Fall Guys has fallen to #21 with a little under 3 million hours streamed. With such impressive rearrangements, it’s obvious which game the community is most interested in at the moment.

Among Us Steals Fall Guys Crown

Among Us’ sudden explosive popularity came as a shock even to its developers, not to mention everyone else. While the project possesses an engaging, potentially record-breaking concept, it wasn’t until last year when the game was discovered by the general public. The fame started snowballing uncontrollably with new streamers joining the hype train along the way. 2020 is undoubtedly the biggest year for Among Us yet, with the party title hitting an impressive milestone of 3 million concurrent players a week ago. To match this abrupt demand, the minute 3-person development team at Innersloth had to abandon plans to create a sequel in order to focus on supporting the original title and further improving it with new content and various enhancements in a bid to keep those numbers as high as possible for as long as it can hold player attention.

The fact that Fall Guys and Among Us are being constantly compared to one another is drawn mainly from the games’ visual similarity and multiplayer focus. Gameplay-wise, however, Fall Guys is much more promising as its core concept allows for endless changes, which probably means that Among Us won’t stay that high on Twitch for too long. Additionally, Fall Guys is expecting Season 2 to launch this month - new and potentially exciting content that could stand to muster up thousands of viewers and get it back in the race against its friendly party game rival.
