In Among Us, both Impostors and crewmates only have a limited field of vision around the map, which makes the game a little more challenging. If players want to expand their field of vision and see what's going on in other rooms, they will want to stop by the Security room and take a look around using the CCTV Cameras. Crewmates can catch Impostors doing sketchy things like using the vents and leaving a room they weren't seen entering. On the other hand, Impostors can stand near the CCTV cameras to limit crewmate suspicion that they are the Impostor. All players will be able to see the red lights on the cameras around the map indicating someone is currently watching.

Using the Security Camera can be advantageous to all players, provided they know when and how to use them safely and strategically. On The Skeld, there is a vent in the Security room, and the door can be locked, making the location particularly good for easy kills. Impostors can also sabotage communications, turning the cameras off before a kill to avoid being caught. While the CCTV doesn't pick up everything and has very limited range, it can be a good way to catch Impostors or for Impostors to further fool crewmates. With so many possibilities for use during a game, here are some tips and best practices for watching the Security Cameras as a crewmate and avoiding being caught on one as an Impostor in Among Us.

Tips for Crewmates Using the Security Cams in Among Us

While not a specific task in Among Us, crewmate players may need to enter the security room to fix wiring or divert power. While there, they can stop to watch the Cameras. They can also stop and watch the Cameras at any time and try to catch Impostors.

Crewmates watching the cameras should always keep an eye out for players who are away from their keyboard or doing tasks. Often, when a crewmate is standing at a single location and not moving, it is a good indication they are completing a task. This makes them an easy target for the Impostors. While the Cameras don't have great range, and all players can see when they are active, they can allow players to see particularly novice Impostors making a kill.

Good Impostors may wait to make a kill until the cameras are turned off. One strategy might be for a crewmate to locate a player doing a task with another player nearby, get off cams so the light goes off, then check again a few seconds later. If one character is dead, the crewmate watching the CCTV can report the body and let everyone know who did it.

It's also a good idea for crewmates to pay attention when two players leave the area covered by the cameras. If only one comes back, the crewmate watching on cams should check to see if there is a body. If so, they'll be able to immediately tell who the culprit is and report.

Crewmates can pay attention to how long players are spending in certain rooms. If the player watching the Security Cameras notices someone enter but never leave a room that contains a vent, it is likely that player vented and is an Impostor. Additionally, players in the Skeld can wait in the Security room until they hear the vents open, then get on the CCTV and wait to see who exits Medbay. It will almost always be the Impostor.

It may be a good idea to use Security Cameras in pairs if possible, especially if crewmates have been confirmed through visual tasks or other methods. This way, someone can stand guard to prevent the crewmate watching the Camera from being killed, or to catch and immediately eject the perpetrator.

Impostors can always sabotage communications, cutting off the CCTV Cameras and making it more difficult for crewmates to see them in the act. Still, this is not foolproof. While Impostors can stand at the cameras to avoid suspicion, eagle-eyed crewmates may still be able to tell they are faking by watching the lights on the cameras themselves.

The Security room is one of the best places to kill crewmates, particularly because there are likely to be no witnesses. Impostors should be sure to lock the door, make the kill, and then vent away as quickly as possible. They can also lock the doors, vent into the room from either Medbay or Electrical, and leave again through the vents, unseen.

If the Impostor notices the red lights active on the cameras, they will want to refrain from making any moves apart from Sabotage until the lights turn off again. It's always a good idea to wait a few more seconds than needed, as one of the crewmates might be hopping on and off cams to lure the Impostor into a false sense of security.
