A fun piece of backend data was revealed by Among Us developers, who unveiled the popularity rankings for the color choices in the game. From first place to 18th place, Innersloth revealed the most and least popular new color choices in Among Us since its latest update.

Revealed during 2021’s Summer Game Fest, Innersloth showcased the content roadmap for Among Us and fans have been hyped. Last month, the developers bumped the maximum lobby size in Among Us from 10 to 15, which gave players new and exciting strategies to master. The update was well-received, not only for its changes to the in-game meta but for its additions to the color scheme. Players can now choose between lime, maroon, rose, banana, gray, tan, and coral, as well as the original colors. While it's clear the massive June update was well-received by fans, the newest colors have not made it to the top of the rankings.

The Among Us developers revealed fun backend data on Twitter which shows a list of the most and least popular color choices in the game. Red sits proudly on top with the seventeen other colors trailing behind. According to the data, the new Among Us colors are the least popular to fans, with banana coming in 11th place, coral in 12th, and tan all the way at the end in last place. Rose is the only one of the newest colors to make it into the top 5, ranking high in 4th place.

It’s not really a surprise that red, the staple color for Among Us, is the most popular color choice in the game. What is surprising is that even after the major update, most of the vanilla colors remain supreme above the newbies like lime, gray, maroon, and coral. Tan’s placement, on the other hand, is likely not a surprise to anyone. The bland color is rarely used in-game, but the Among Us devs did sweeten the deal by posting a consolation prize for the color – a “first last place” trophy.

While some Among Us players are still hesitant to embrace a 15-player lobby – believing it’s too many players at once – the consensus seems to be that Among Us is heading in the right direction. The new colors have also been a welcomed addition, giving players more of an option when it comes to customizing their crewmate (or imposter). As for the Among Us color rankings, the backend data shows a lot about player decisions in-game. While the rankings could be seen as just another popularity contest, it’s possible the interesting statistics show that most players are staying true to the vanilla game, and won’t give up that experience anytime soon.
