A musical number based on the popular online multiplayer game Among Us has turned into reality. At the end of each year, YouTube uploads a new installment of YouTube Rewind, a retrospective of sorts that looks back at the past year in everything related to YouTube – but this year it was confirmed that this wouldn't be the case. Still, fans of the annual Rewind video decided to honor the video-hosting platform through a musical, with one segment based on Among Us, complete with performers donned in the game's signature colorful costumes.

The musical starts out with five actors on stage in red, blue, green, pink, and yellow costumes singing about how they have "a lobby waiting for you." As with any game of Among Us, these people simply want to figure out who the impostor is. To win Among Us, a team of players, otherwise known as crew members, must work together to figure out who the impostor is. The impostor is a fake crew member whose objective is to murder every real crew member without getting caught.

Although brief, this roughly three-minute Among Us musical perfectly captures what it feels like to play the game itself. It even features cameos from YouTubers Michelle Khare and Disguised Toast, who each disclose their in-game locations to prove that they're not suspicious, or "sus," as the game's lingo goes. There's even a reference to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the U.S. representative for New York's 14th congressional district, who famously played the game with streamers back in October alongside Minnesota representative Ilhan Omar. Though AOC didn't make the cut herself, someone portrays her in the musical. After all, AOC's Among Us stream made history with one of the most-viewed Twitch streams of all time.

This Among Us musical is accurate, to say the least. The grandiose ending, in particular, sums everything up perfectly. Being falsely pinned as the impostor is a hurtful feeling, and even being correctly pinned as the impostor is also a hurtful feeling. Sometimes, being the impostor is simultaneously fun and stressful, as impostors must carefully manage their plans of attack while remaining seemingly innocent. There's never a moment's rest in this role.

What's arguably even more stressful is a "two-time" as an Among Us impostor, meaning that someone is the impostor two times in a row. Being the impostor is mildly exhausting, but being the impostor two times consecutively can be draining. At the end of the musical, the impostor promises to be back with "violence, momentum, and speed," setting up their scheme for revenge.

Despite being released in 2018, Among Us has earned its status as a 2020 game, with everyone playing the game in quarantine together. Among Us even took home the coveted Best Multiplayer Game category at The Game Awards last night, winning over both Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. If you've dived into Among Us this year, then you'll perfectly understand this bite-sized musical.
