The cultural phenomenon that is Among Us provides a tense enough experience as is, but a recent 3D animated short shows how it can be heightened tenfold with a little creativity and a lot of talent. Since the online multiplayer title spiked in popularity earlier this year, fan-made creations have continuously taken the community by storm. The latest of such projects is no exception.

In fact, this month alone has seen a series of a fan projects making the rounds, all paying homage to the spacesuit-wearing crewmates in developer InnerSloth's Among Us. Earlier this month, the creative duo Jay & Arya released live-action short film AMONG US on their YouTube channel to huge critical and viewer praise. In the few short weeks since its arrival, the 13-minute short has amassed a whopping six million views. Not too long thereafter, several artists wowed fans with horror movie-inspired posters for the social deduction game, and the most impressive community-developed creations have yet to come to a halt as more creators hear about the game and get time to finish up their inspired projects.

One recent fan-made production comes in the form of what's described as a "hyper-realistic horror 3D animation." The short in question runs a touch under two minutes long, but it manages to pack in plenty of what most players love and fear about both Among Us and sci-fi horror. Talented YouTuber 3D Print Guy is responsible for the project, which, according to the video description, took inspiration from the Warhammer 40K fan film Astartes, Ridley Scott's classic Alien film, and EA's dormant Dead Space franchise. Simply put, 3D Print Guy borrowed from some of the best that the sci-fi horror genre has on offer to craft a truly compelling 3D visual experience, and the payoff is a short that no Among Us fan will want to miss.

The 3D short's Alien and Dead Space influences are evident right out of the gate, from the mechanical mood of enclosed spaces to the beautifully rendered color palette. 3D Print Guy's design prowess and artistic choices aren't the only things that deserve praise, either; the cinematography on display warrants more than its fair share of applause as well, as does the incredible attention to detail.

It's obvious how much work went into this new Among Us-inspired endeavor, and it demands far more attention than it is has already received. Given Among Us' ever-growing popularity, fans are bound to flock to 3D Print Guy's animated short in droves in due time.
