Mods continue adding in fun new roles and mechanics to Among Us, the social deduction game from indie studio InnerSloth. Many of these mods draw on aspects of pop culture, and two of the most fun and recent ones are based on TV shows: Stranger Things and Spongebob Squarepants.

Although each mod offers a little something different, both of them allow Among Us players to control characters from these popular TV shows. The Stranger Things mod in Among Us turns Impostors into Mind Flayers, Demogorgans, and Demodogs from the series. Although this mod isn't currently available to the public, players may potentially stumble into a game where it's being used and public versions may appear online in the future. Each monsters comes with its own unique abilities, keeping gameplay fresh and crewmates on their toes.

In a similar vein, the Spongebob Squarepants Role mod in Among Us turns the Impostor into Plankton. This version of Plankton has the ability to call on a horde of Jellyfish, Zoom Out to see the entire map all at once, and use Recruit to turn a crewmate into a Plankton look-alike in order to confuse other players. Plankton can also Shrink down to a small size that makes him almost invisible, and he can summon Dirty Bubble to kill a group of nearby crewmates all at the same time.

Among Us: Is Stranger Things Mod Or Spongebob Role Mod Better?

Plankton unleashes the Dirty Bubble in the SpongeBob Among Us mod

Of course, since both of these Among Us mods are based off TV shows, it's easy to start comparing them. However, they're both quite different, despite buffing Impostors and overpowering them, so player preferences will probably just come down to which show they like better. The Spongebob Role Mod feels a bit sillier, while the Stranger Things mod turns Among Us into more of a survival horror game.

For fans of the Five Nights At Freddy's Mod in Among Us, this Stranger Things mod is arguably even scarier. So, anyone lucky enough to get into a game where it's being used will want to be prepared. The Spongebob Role mod is more zany, but can definitely get intense if Dirty Bubble takes out most of the crewmates at one time.

Still, both mods are based on popular TV shows and it's likely at least some version of these mods will become public at some point. Fans of Stranger Things and Spongebob Squarepants should like the inspired mods being added to Among Us now, even if they may have to wait a while to access them.
