New fan-made kill animations for Among Us have emerged online from a talented creator, showing what it might be like if the game referenced popular movies like Star Wars and Ghostbusters when the Impostor murders crewmates. The hit game has become a huge success over the last few weeks and has been popular with the fan art community, with players reimagining what the characters could look like. One recent example saw crewmates in a Magikarp Pokémon skin that they would be able to use in-game.

Among Us has been one of the surprise hits of 2020, despite the fact that the game actually launched way back in 2018. It takes the basic social deduction mechanic from board games such as Ultimate Werewolf and Mafia and adds an extra layer of psychological manipulation, as players attempt to discover who the murderous Impostor is. Thanks to streamers playing the game on sites like Twitch, Among Us has quickly become one of the most played games on PC and mobile.

The latest fan-made content made for Among Us shows what kill animations based on hit movies might look like. Reddit user toledollar has created a short video highlighting some interesting animations that they created to replace the current ones used in the game. Included in the footage are references to Star WarsGhostbusters, and even Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. The animations see the Among Us crewmates using the Force to choke enemies and stabbing them in the shower with a knife. Of course, most of them are far more intricate than what fans usually see in the title itself. The full video (which includes Men In BlackBack to the Future, and Dr. Strangelove references) can be found on creator Tolnimation's YouTube channel.

In response to the huge surge in popularity, developer InnerSloth has already canceled work on a potential sequel to Among Us. Instead, the studio will now concentrate on updating the original game with new content and features. All work that had been completed for the follow-up will also be transferred over. InnerSloth has already set up a series of beta tests to try out new mechanics and has taken steps to ban hackers to prevent them from ruining games for other players.

Considering how popular Among Us has become, it is no surprise to see it also be a big hit with the fan art community. The simple visuals and basic art style of the game also lends itself to being reimagined as it requires relatively little work compared to some other titles. Hopefully, developer InnerSloth can take some inspiration from the best pieces of fan art and implement them in Among Us in the future.
