Fans of Among Us are finding creative ways to decorate their characters, allowing for a more unique and fun experience. Players can now customize their astronauts Super Mario Bros-style with fan-made plumber hats and overalls so Mario and Luigi can also participate as Crewmates and Impostors.

Over the years, Mario and Luigi have become two of the most famous and recognizable video game characters of all time. Why not make a fun crossover with them and InnerSloth's popular sleeper success? While fans patiently wait for new Among Us content to be developed, they've found their own creative ways for spicing up the online mystery murder game.

A popular videogame modding website known as GameBanana allows players to create and download custom skins for a variety of games, including Among Us. There are all kinds of Super Mario skins to choose from, including Luigi's plumber overalls, different color Mario hats, and even Paper Mario skins. These will only be viewable to the players who've downloaded them, and are not compatible with mobile versions. A fair warning before getting into the essentials: some third party skins come at the risk of downloading malicious software, so finding a trusted source is important for the health of one's computer. Additionally, messing with the game files of any game is generally not recommended, but as many users will do that anyway, it's best to proceed with the appropriate directions. Here are instructions for obtaining Mario and Luigi skin mods for the Steam version of Among Us.

Among Us: How To Get Mario & Luigi Skin Mods

Among Us Paper Mario Luigi

Players will first want to find and download the Unity Assets Bundle Extractor (UABE) online, which allows users to open and edit the internal Among Us files that allows skins to be imported. There's an option between 32-bit and 64-bit depending on one's operating system. Next, find the desired mod (Game Banana is typically a good source), and download the latest version of it if there are multiple choices. After the download, the UABE and mod of choice will need to be extracted to a location on the computer, such as a designated file or desktop. Highlight the files, right click, and click "extract here." The chosen 32 or 64-bit UABE version and the .emip file of the mod should appear. If the new mod is anything but an .emip file, it likely will not work. Once these are extracted, the original unextracted UABE and mod files can be deleted.

Next, users can double-click the extracted 32 or 64-bit folder, and open the AssetBundleExtractor.exe file, and a new window should open. Click on "File," in the top left, then "Load Package File," and the downloaded mod should appear here as a .emip file. Click on it, then open. A new window should pop up. Next, users can open their Steam Library. Click on "Among Us," scroll to "Manage," and click "Browse Local Files." Double click the data folder, and copy the path in the address bar above. Paste the path in the bottom bar of the "Load State From Package" menu on the UABE window. Check the second box for the "Affected Assets Files," and click "OK." A window for selecting the type of database will appear. Scroll down and click the last option, and click "OK" again. Click "File" in the top left, then save to convert the .emip into a .assets file. Another window will pop up so users will need to click "Save" for all the files. Everything regarding the UABE can now be closed out. Finally, drag both asset files in the Among Us data folder in the PC's local files. Click "Replace the files."

Everything can now be closed out and the mod should be good to go. Users just have to open up Among Us to see their new modded Mario or Luigi characters. As long as the steps are followed correctly and the mod file isn't corrupted, players should be able to see their new skins while playing the game.
