Indie titles Fall Guys and Among Us have made a major impact on 2020, and thanks to a Star Wars Battlefront 2 mod, the two titans of independent game development can finally battle it out in intergalactic combat. While Fall Guys' jelly beans are normally passive beings, they will stop at nothing to reclaim their crown from the Among Us crewmates.
For the first half of 2020, Animal Crossing: New Horizons reigned supreme as one of the most talked-about titles online. That was until August when Fall Guys was released for PC and PlayStation 4, taking the gaming scene by storm. The party royale title immediately garnered an unprecedented amount of support which turned into a very wholesome community. After roughly a month in the spotlight, Among Us came seemingly out of nowhere to take the throne of the most discussed title on the market. The social deduction game continues to be one of the most popular titles on the internet even after almost three months of nonstop dominance.
Many people have assumed that Among Us and Fall Guys are rivals due to them sharing similar character designs, both being indie titles, and both offering low stakes competitive environments. While Among Us is clearly dominating the gaming scene more so than Fall Guys, the question of who would win in a fight to the death has yet to be answered. That is until a mod for Star Wars Battlefront 2 allows players to take control of the indie bean characters in a fight between Among Us and Fall Guys. YouTuber ToastedShoes posted a video of said mod in action, and it looks really good.
The Fall Guys beans represent the light side of the Force, and the Among Us Impostors obviously represent the dark side. While the mod doesn't change any of Battlefront 2's core gameplay, it does reskin each of the soldiers and special characters to look like Fall Guys and Among Us characters. Each of the soldiers is made to look like standard characters while special characters have unique costumes. The mod does look a bit wacky at times due to the stretched proportions of some characters, but all in all, it's pretty impressive.
As for who the winner of the battle will be, that's for players to decide. The dark side of the force has some pretty cool lightsaber-wielding characters, but everyone loves a happy ending where the good guys win. A true winner of the battle between Among Us and Fall Guys may never be crowned, but maybe one day they can work together for the good of all gamers in an official crossover outside of Battlefront 2.
