The social-deduction game Among Us turns friends into enemies as players try to decipher who among them is the murderous Impostor. At the beginning of every game, users get to select what color they want their armless astronauts to be. There are 13 colors to choose from, and Among Us' billions of players have naturally picked what hue of space suit they prefer since the game surged in popularity back in August 2020.
Among Us fans have also begun associating these colors with behaviors and attitudes, which have become the foundation of countless memes and jokes in the community. The most common in-game preconception is that "Red is sus," meaning other players almost always believe Red is the Impostor.
A majority of these are jokes featured in Among Us memes across the internet, but there are a handful of these assumptions that have stuck simply because of how popular they've become. Here's each color stereotype starting from the least popular color and ending on the most picked astronaut.
#12 - Among Us Color Stereotypes: Brown
Developer InnerSloth revealed that Brown is the least popular Crewmate color in Among Us. Since Brown is at the bottom of the coolness totem pole, players who are using the color have usually had their favorite color taken already, causing them to be annoyed, frustrated, or toxic. That can result in them getting on others' nerves and getting voted off early.
#11 - Among Us Color Stereotypes: Lime
Lime ranks very low on the popularity scale and is rarely called by its actual color. Other players confuse it with Green or call the color "Light Green," which allows Lime to slip under the radar in certain situations. Lime is the invisible Crewmate (almost like they're always Ghosts in Among Us) that's often mistaken as another color, which can be extremely useful as the Impostor or supremely annoying when no one listens to them.

Green is one of the least popular colors in Among Us and players who choose this hue are often used as scapegoats. Since Lime frequently just gets called "Green," the actual Green player almost always gets wrapped up in something that they had nothing to do with. Those situations can cause Green to get accidentally voted off if someone says "it's Green" when they actually mean "it's Lime," and just enough people vote for the wrong player.
#9 - Among Us Color Stereotypes: Orange
Orange is the wildcard. No one knows where they'll find them or what they'll do next. This degree of unpredictability can either let them go on a murderous rampage or get caught using Among Us' vents in the first few minutes of the game. The same thing applies to them as Crewmates. They'll either discover the Impostor right away or call an emergency meeting with no plan at all.
#8 - Among Us Color Stereotypes: Purple
Purple is perceived as the de facto Impostor. While Red is often seen as suspicious, Purple is accused of being guilty on as little as a hunch and is voted off when players need to get someone off the ship, but they aren't sure who the Impostor really is. Purple has the same odds of being the Impostor as everyone else in the lobby, but this astronaut struggles to avoid raising eyebrows.

Pink is seen as the Crewmate that avoids confrontation and has trouble defending themselves because they either aren't familiar with the map or forgot what they did earlier in the game. This degree of cluelessness almost always gets them voted early since they struggle to come up with an alibi when someone accuses them of being the Impostor.

Blue is the most level-headed of the astronauts, meaning they'll often be quiet and attentive. They'll ask probing questions as a Crewmate and let other players bicker among themselves when they're Impostors.
Blue will talk just enough to avoid suspicion and argue civilly in the Among Us chatroom, making it difficult to tell exactly who's behind the spacesuit a lot of the time.

Yellow is seen as the naive one. Their trust in everyone won't get them killed early, but they often get manipulated into being the "Third Impostor" in Among Us. That means that the murderer will act harmless around Yellow to get them to vouch for the Impostor unintentionally. Yellow typically survives until late in the match, but only because they were used as a pawn in the murder's masterplan.
#4 - Among Us Color Stereotypes: Cyan
Cyan is typically the aggressive voter. They will argue that another Crewmate needs to be voted out in every meeting even if there isn't enough evidence to back them up. This might work if a lobby struggles to decide who to select, but it backfires a lot of the time and gets them voted out instead.
#3 - Among Us Color Stereotypes: White
White is the most trusted of the Crewmates; if they equipped the Among Us Angel Halo hat, this stereotype could be even worse. This crewmember often gets the benefit of the doubt, and other colors have to work hard to prove that they're guilty.
Since others take their word as truth, this makes White a prime target for the Impostor, or they could make a dastardly murderer themselves.

Black is often seen as the leader of the group. They're either asking the tough questions or directing the discussion to get as much information as possible. They're the group's authority figure, which can allow them to pull strings in almost any lobby if they're the Impostors.

The most popular color in the game is also the most suspicious. Since the Red Crewmate is often portrayed as the Impostor in many of InnerSloth's Among Us promotional images, it's difficult to shake the stereotype in-game. Players selecting Red should move confidently because one false move and someone is bound to type, "Red is sus."
