It can also ensure people won't spoil the fun by announcing their hacks and revealing the Impostor through cheating, or at least delay this moment until the first body is reported. Until InnerSloth updates Among Us next and, hopefully, makes some changes to Emergency Meetings, the best way to play the game is without using the feature at all.
