Among Us took off towards new horizons with the launch of its Airship map update. The patch added a new location to host rounds of the social deduction game and several new cosmetics and outfits. This was the first new map developer InnerSloth had added to the game since the addition of Polus in 2019, and The Airship provides some much-needed variety to Among Us' stage selections. However, Crewmates and Impostors jumping into the Airship for the first time will quickly realize that it requires far more teamwork than The Skeld, Polus, and MIRA HQ.

Among Us has gained the reputation of being a casual game, but The Airship has upped the ante. Crewmates and Impostors who want to walk away with a victory on Among Us' new map will need to step up their coordination, which is difficult in a game that doesn't allow any one-on-one conversations. So what exactly made The Airship harder than Among Us' other maps?

Among Uinvolves a lot of multi-tasking. Crewmates need to strive to complete all of the tasks assigned to them while keeping track of other players' movements to identify the Impostor. The Impostor needs to constantly avoid suspicion while they attempt to murder everyone else on the Among Us map. All of that is still hard to accomplish in places like The Skeld and MIRA-HQ, but The Airship map's massive size makes it much more difficult.

Why The Airship Requires More Teamwork

The Airship surpassed Polus as Among Us' biggest map by a notable margin. Such a large map will inevitably result in Crewmates splitting up more, which leaves them more vulnerable to be cornered by an Impostor. Players will need to make a conscientious effort to buddy up and keep track of who other users are grouped together to avoid being murdered and weed out the killer. The Airship map in Among Us also lets players select what room they want to start in after every Emergency Meeting, so players will need to pre-arrange what area of the map they'll start in so they don't lose each other.

All of that might translate into a slight advantage for Impostors at the beginning of every round, but the tides can quickly turn against the murderers if one of them is caught early in a game. Without the help of a fellow Impostor orchestrating kills and properly timing sabotages, appearing innocent can quickly become overwhelming. Dead Impostors can help their surviving teammates by activating sabotages themselves, but that's easier said than done since the sabotages share the same cooldowns, and activating one from the grave could end up backfiring on the surviving Impostor if Among Us players aren't careful.

Among Us has become known as a game all about deception and subterfuge, but it also involves subtle teamwork. The Airship map accentuates how much players need to work together to succeed, whether they are playing as either Crewmates or Impostors.
