After several months, the Airship is finally coming to Among Us at the end of March. With new rooms, tasks, and cosmetics, there's a lot to be excited about. Recently, InnerSloth announced an official release date for the Airship map in Among Us, providing a dev log that explained what players should expect and why the Airship map took so long to arrive. The studio also mentioned that its previously announced account system would also be included in the update.
Creating an account in Among Us will come with a number of benefits. It will allow players to finally report others for inappropriate behavior. Being able to report players for cheating, hacking, or derogatory and offensive comments has been something needed in the game for a while now, so it's great that this feature will be a part of Among Us' new account system. Creating an account in completely free, although it won't be required to play the game. Users can opt out of this feature by playing Among Us in Guest Mode instead. However, the account system will have several benefits, so it's definitely worth signing up for one.
Benefits Of Signing Up For An Account In Among Us
Only Among Us players who have an account will be able to change their display name. Otherwise, they'll have to choose one from a list of randomized names. Players without accounts will also have to use the new Quick Chat function, since unlocking Free Chat is exclusive to registering with an account.
The Quick Chat wheel in Among Us is for players 13 and under, as well as anyone who doesn't want to waste time typing their own responses and questions. Again, players can use Guest Mode if they don't want to register for an account or reveal their age, but they'll have to use Quick Chat and won't be able to customize their display name. Additionally, usernames won't be exclusive, so multiple users can choose the same name without incident.
In future updates, InnerSloth is hoping to create a friend system and the ability to send gifts to each other. The ability to link multiple accounts should also be coming soon. For now, the new account system in Among Us appears to come with a number of benefits, so it's likely many players will choose to sign up for an account when the Airship update arrives on March 31st, 2021.
