The new year seems to have started off poorly for longtime America's Got Talent judge Simon Cowell, who recently revealed he lost a tooth, broke his wrist, and tested positive to Covid-19 in one week. Last year ended with a bang for Simon, who got engaged to his longtime lover Lauren Silverman, 44, on Christmas Eve. The 62-year-old media personality proposed to Lauren during an intimate family vacation. Simon, who welcomed son Eric with Lauren in 2014, popped the question after 13 years of dating.

The X Factor talent show star made the bold move while he and Lauren were enjoying the holidays in Barbados, where they first met. The memorable day was extra special with the couple's 7-year-old son Eric and Lauren's oldest son from a previous relationship, Adam, present. Following their engagement, a source revealed that the lovebirds were "super happy." With 2021 ending with blissful memories, Simon would have had no idea of what was in store for him in the early months of 2022.

A few months into the new year, Simon has already experienced body aches and heartbreaks. In an interview with Extra on Thursday, Simon revealed, "In one week, I broke my wrist, tooth fell out because I was eating peanut brittle, [and then] a day after that, I tested positive for COVID." Simon added that he was also involved in a bike crash earlier this month. The TV personality narrated the accident, "I was riding my bike… I went around a corner too fast. That was it, knocked myself out. There were some people nearby, thank God, so they stopped the traffic… I was in a bit of a daze… I got back on my bike and drove one-armed back to the house. That's how nutty I was." However, Simon confessed to the outlet that he wasn't wearing a helmet when the accident occurred and has learned his lesson.

Sadly Simon's accidents have not been the only unpleasant events he's had this year. Earlier in February, the British Judge also lost someone dear. Breakout star Nightbirde, who got the golden buzzer from Simon after performing her original song It's Okay, on AGT, died on February 19 after battling cancer. Following the tragedy, Simon opened up about how tough it was to deal with Nightbirde's passing. Simon said Nightbirde "was so determined to beat this illness," and he had hoped that she would survive. However, Simon added that her death was so unfair and hit everyone so badly.

It is quite sad that America's Got Talent's famous judge has dealt with many devastating events since the new year started. While many fans would have expected that the newly engaged judge would be kicking off 2022 with more special moments with his long-term sweetheart Lauren, Simon has had nothing but a series of heartaches and body pains. However, while Simon is still dealing with the aftermath of all these unpleasant happenings, one can do nothing but hope things are smooth sailing for him from now on.
