An American Horror Story spinoff series has been announced by the show's co-creator, Ryan Murphy. The horror anthology series has become a massive success for FX over the years, with the series wrapping up its ninth season, titled American Horror Story: 1984, last year. Even though it was only expected to run up to season 10, FX made the thrilling decision earlier this year to renew the series for another three seasons after that.

Currently, Murphy and his crew are working on the show's tenth season. Although the theme for the season is yet to be confirmed, Murphy released an announcement video that showed off the upcoming season's all-star cast. Plenty of familiar faces from previous seasons are expected to return, including fan-favorites Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, and Macaulay Culkin is one of the new faces that has joined the cast as well. At the moment, production is currently on pause due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, this hasn't stopped Murphy from planning out American Horror Story's future and what fans can expect to see from the highly-anticipated new season. On top of that, he's also planning an exciting new spinoff for the successful horror series.

Murphy took to Instagram to share a photo of a cast Zoom call which consisted of numerous familiar fan-favorites from previous American Horror Story seasons. He shared that the group "reminisced about the good times" and discussed a new project he has planned. A spin-off for the horror anthology series is currently in the works, called "American Horror Stories", which will be "one hour contained episodes." Check out Murphy's full post below.

At the moment, no other details are known about the spinoff series aside from what Murphy shared on social media. Regardless, it's clear that he's excited to jump into this new project. It's definitely another exciting addition to his already stacked slate of content. On top of his work with FX, Murphy has more content coming down the pipeline with Netflix as well. Following the signing of his five-year deal with the streaming service back in 2018, he's created the Golden Globe-nominated series The Politician for the company, along with his star-studded series about the Golden Age of Tinseltown, Hollywood, which recently took the platform by storm at the beginning of May.

Even with Murphy churning out new content for Netflix, he's still very passionate about his shows at FX. It's thrilling to see that he has more in mind for the horror anthology series outside of its upcoming seasons. It's equally exciting to see so many familiar faces included on this Zoom call that want to be a part of the series' future. Not to mention, having one-hour contained episodes will be a fun way to switch up American Horror Story's usual layout of telling scary stories. It will allow for the series' creators to get even more creative with scaring viewers in a crunched time span. Hopefully, more details surrounding the brand new spinoff series will be revealed soon.
