Here's American Horror Story: Freak Show's Meep the Geek explained. Ryan Murphy has made his name on trashy but undeniably entertaining TV shows, such as Nip/Tuck. Arguably his most popular series is American Horror Story, an anthology that focuses on a new cast of characters and storyline every season. The first series Murder House put a very Ryan Murphy spin on the classic haunted house story, and its mixture of shocking twists with a great cast made it a success. Jessica Lange was the unofficial "star" of American Horror Story for its first four seasons, and regular cast members include Sarah Paulson, Emma Roberts and Evan Peters.

American Horror Story has run for 10 seasons thus far and is set to last for at least three more. It also spawned high-profile spin-offs, with American Crime Story focusing on real-life crimes, such as season 1 focusing on the O.J. Simpson murder trial. The other major offshoot is American Horror Stories, an anthology that explores a new storyline each episode - though it does feature occasional crossovers with the main series. The quality of American Horror Story seasons can vary wildly, with some considering Roanoke one of the weakest, while season 2 Asylum is often regarded as one of - if not the - best.

American Horror Story: Freak Show is often highly ranked too. Season 4 is set in the '50s and follows a traveling troupe of so-called "freaks" as they arrive in a small Florida town. Being that it's American Horror Story, it doesn't take long in Freak Show for death and madness to follow. Part of Fräulein Elsa's Cabinet of Curiosities is a character called Meep the Geek, played by Ben Woolf. As his name implies, Meep bites the head off of small animals as part of the troupe's act, with "Meep!" being the only word he can utter.

While this habit might have made him appear scary, Meep was beloved by the troupe. This is an impressive feat as American Horror Story: Freak Show's Meep only appeared in three episodes and is dead by the end of the second. His death is also a travesty of justice, as he's framed for the killing of a local cop and later beaten to death in a jail cell. This body is dumped out on the troupe's camp. Meep's early death lingers over the characters and the rest of the season, though he does return for a cameo in Freak Show - where Neil Patrick Harris made a guest appearance - episode 13.

American Horror Story: Freak Show wasn't Ben Woolf's first appearance on the series, as he played Infantata during season 1. Tragically, the actor was killed in 2015 after being struck in the head by the side mirror of an SUV, and he later died of a stroke in the hospital. His final credit was the 2015 anthology horror movie Tales of Halloween.
